A few weeks ago, I picked up a bulk pack of microfibre cleaning cloths at WalMart. I figured that I would use them to wash the car and floors in the house.
I used them on the car yesterday and I was very impressed with the results and ease of use!
First thing I noticed is that when washing the car, they glide over the paint with almost no friction whatsoever. When the cloth got dirty, I just dunked it in clean water and swished it a few times and it came out clean! This is much different than plain terrycloth I had been previously using.
Previously I used a high quality chamois to dry the car. You know the drill, wet it, when it fills up with water squeeze and squeeze again until you get a good portion of the water out. With the microfiber one twist of the cloth almost gets it dry!
Talk about time saving! Plus it didn't leave any streaks at all!
When I did the windows, I just used plain warm water and a clean microfiber cloth. The windows actually came out better than they would have if I had just used paper towels. The windows were not only clean, but looked like they had been polished too!
As anyone come up with any other applications for which these can be used. I really think they are great!

I bought one some years ago for cleaning my plasma display panel. Ordered it online from a car-care outfit. A couple years ago I found some in the close-out section at Wal-Mart, bought two more. I haven't used them for general cleaning around the house or for car washing, but definitely will try it! I still need to keep the one in pristine condition for the plasma and camera lenses.

My partner does more of the serious house cleaning and he has micro-fiber cloths and also has a couple of gloves. He loves them, and when I've had occassion to use them I've been impressed too. He's great for coming up with new uses for just about anything but since I don't pay attention to much to the major house cleaning operations I haven't noticed him doing anything creative with microfiber yet but just give him time.

Method micro-fiber cloths

I love micro-fiber cleaning cloths. I use them to clean the granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms. They also work great cleaning my stone sinks in the master bath.
Also, very good results on Stainless Steel appliances.

- Good for cleaning faucets in kitchen and bathrooms.
- Good for cleaning soap scum on bathtub.
- Good for washing vinyl floors.
- Good for washing furniture (warm water and a little Murphy's Oil).
- Good for cleanin fridge.

Just wash them in the washer - NO SOFTENER and they're good as new.

Target has a good brand in the automotive section called 'Vroom."

just don't put them in the dryer!

I have never found anything which cleaned my spectacles as well as micro-fibre...nor the lenses for my camera.
But fabric softener or the dryer (with fabric softener sheets, euwwww...)will kill them.

But fabric softener or the dryer (with fabric softener sheet

Agreed.

I use the microfiber cloths for cleaning the fiberglass tub, the glass shower doors, the faucets, etc. They work wonderfully with just water.....no chemicals needed.

And I have microfiber dishcloths which work perfectly for drying those items that do not go in the dishwasher.

Just absolutely do not use fabric softener or put them in the dryer. Following these guidelines, they should last for a long time.

Once you start using them you will never want to use anything else. My favorite use would have to be the granite counter tops, stainless steel, and windows. I knew about not using softener but have never heard about not putting them in the dryer, which I have always done....

Thanks for all the good comments on the microfiber cloths. I have tons of them. My sister was on the development and production team for them when she worked for Miliken. I keep them in my car all the time, great for cleaning the windows when the fog up. They are great for cleaning off your sunglasses, I have one at the computer for cleaning my monitor.

I put them in the dryer no softener too. My first exposure to them is recent, as dish cloths I bought at Target. I should try some for cleaning too. I love how it leaves my stainless sink streak and spot free, and how well it cleans the countertops.

Glad to hear that you think the dryer is OK, Just got through doing my tile floors today and used one. They work great and get up much more dirt than a regular cloth.

Another nice thing about these is that they leave no dust behind like paper towels do. So I can easily see how they would be handy to use on optics.
Today Karen used one attatched to a sponge mop to clean the marble in the foyer. It really came out sparkling. Just hot water, no chemicals at all.
I put two in my flight bag, just to have on hand for those unexpected bounces while drinking a soft drink or coffee. I just love how absorbent these things are and especially how easy they are to wring out.

Micro Fiber

I bought my first one in 2000 and paid $22.99 for it in an upscale cooking store. Now I can get a bundle of 12 at Sam's for $12.99. I was told neveer to use softener and absolutely never wash them with towels or linty things because the lint gets caught in the micrfiber and renders it just a dish rag. On Oprah's Go Green special she recommends using microfiber cloths and to quit using paper towels. A reserach specialist said the average American uses 6 napkins a day. Just dropping that to 5 would save 10 millions tons of waste a year. Microfiber cloths to match the linens!

dryer yes or no

Well, gosh - on all the packages here, they specifically say "do not tumble dry".
Maybe our manufacturers are too cautious - if all of you are drying them without problems, I'll try one and see what happens.
Oh, another use - when I was changing diapers (looonnnnnggg story) and few years back, I found the softness and absorbency made it possible to clean the babies skin without iritation.
Since then have used them as regular face clothes.
Do the non-woven microfibres work as well?

Micro Fiber Mops

We have a lot of the hospitals useing the Mirco Fiber mops and dust mops... They all really like them

The Mfg says no bleach no softner and dry on very low heat no more than 125 if you do that they will last and last.. they dry pretty fast just laying them out too... I like them too as the total wash time recommended is only about 15 mins.

And Music Too.......

In Germany and The Netherlands, Microfiber cleaning "kits" are sold complete with cd's of "cleaning" music. They're quite amazing..pop in a cd and the appropriate music plays for windows, floors, dusting....i still think the bollywood scores are best for general cleaning.
