Microwave Oven Question

The inside bottom of my microwave over has rusted, and I would like to know if it would be safe to sand it, and repaint it with appliance paint or should I just get a new one? I've had it for about 10+ years a friend gave it to me when he moved in 94 and I don't know how long he had it.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just use the right paint, and don't leave any exposed metal in the oven cavity.

Personally for $40 one can get a new one. I would't risk it.

Does it make sense, for safety reasons, to just paint OVER the rust?

Of course if you have the Italian disease "fundzarlo" you can just live with it!
