So, the new Series 8 ovens (especially the 60cm model with built in microwave and self clean) by Bosch flamed up my obsession with cooking equipment.

So, I searched around, compared prices and functions, etc. just for fun.
And reading through the TOL Miele oven manual for the fith time, something dawned to me: There were 3 selectable pyrolitic cycle lengths.
Now, I know this new oven line has been out for 2 or so years, but they silently killed their sensor guided self clean cycle.
Previously, a sensor would measure the amount of fumes produced during the heating process, determining the ultimate goal temperature and eventual cycle end.
But now, it seems they said the needed sensor was "to much" (maybe to fault known, or just unnescessary) and went with fixed cycle times, even for the TOL models.

Personally, I think that this is kind of a loss due to the incredible design effort that went into this stand-alone feature, but however can understand that a day to day customer (even if the customer would be willing to pay several thousand € for an oven) might be more impressed that now there is no need to remove runners, racks etc. from the oven then by not haveing to decide between 3 soil levels.

Miele ovens feature a heated catalyser to help prevent smells.

Do Bosch ovens have such a feature and does it REALLY help with smells?

I am not a fan of food smells in the house.
