My Miele (G 898SCi Premiere Plus) has started doing something intermittently, that I hope is not a harbinger of doom for this 2005 model unit. Twice, in as many weeks, at the very end of a "normal" or "normal plus" cycle, I'll open the door to find a larger than usual quantity of water in the sump. It covers the filter screen unit, but doesn't cover the whole floor of the unit. No warning lights go off, and the water is clean and clear.

When the DW starts a new cycle, it purges all the excess water out, and a new cycle begins normally. The unit appears to be draining fine throughout the cycle. It completes the cycle, but occasionally leaves a sump full of clean water.

For the past 10 years, when a cycle is complete, the sump area will be, of course, completely dry, except for a very small amount in the "trap" area of the filter screen.

Is this normal? I don't want to pay my Miele service guy $140.00 for a service call for him to say "...yeah, sometimes they'll do that...there's nothing to worry about."

Hey

The stainless steel ball in the check valve is probably just not reseating itself in the normal position and the leftover water is running back from the drain hose.

Open the drain pump inspection cover and check that the ball sits on the bottom and that nothing is jamming it open.

When mine has done this the plastic sump can be full of water, but the water shouldn't be high enough to reach the stainless steel base. I just clean the valve and it's back to normal

Cheers

Nathan
