Miele G 562.... A piece of art...

Hello everybody.... I wanted to wright you for a wile, but have been a bit lazy...
Really want to share that with you and tell me what you think....

I did a bit of "shopping..."
After my beloved Miele De Luxe T 355 dryer, something that I was waiting for all my life came on my way!!!! MIELE DE LUXE G562 dishwasher!!!!!
I wanted it so much but it was so difficult to find one in good condition... 80s dark brown fascias are my favorite!!!! Plus the lower panels....
So this one was the ideal!!!!! Been used very few times 30 years ago, it was just new...
When I put in the car I drove straight to Miele service. The man was speechless...
" where did you find this antique??"
They were so surprised about its condition, he couldn't believe it was so good...
He suggested me never to use strong DW conditioner, if I have to, just use a tiny amount and also, to avoid gel detergent as the chamber can't hold it....
I am so happy!!! Every time I run it I am delighted, It performs very well....
Now I don't know what to do with my previous Bosch SMI5082/17 that was amazing.....

I bought a pair of 80s Miele washer and dryer, but this will go in an other thread...

They use slightly more water and energy but the force of the power that swirls around is fantastic! Good washes, good rinses and it's build solid! Enjoy the use of one of these fantastic pieces of Miele art!

Oh wow I love it, Dimitris! It's great that you're using it as your daily driver.  I would love to have a vintage dishwasher, such as a Miele or Kitchenaid, as my daily driver.  Unfortunately I just have a modern Siemens -- boring! 

 

Does it work well?  As good a modern machine but faster and noisier (plus higher consumption)? 

How long are the cycles? 

Does it have the option of adding an additional interim rinse by turning a kind of screw located in the side of the door or something?

Is there slightly less height within the tub compared to a modern Miele, meaning wide-diameter plates and tall items can be more tricky?

Thank you for your lovely messages,

Marky_mark, Yes, yes, yes and yes!!!!

You have a bit of knowledge about it....

There are 3 screws, one about adjusting the water hardness, the other about the water level in the tub (it is related with the water pressure from the intake) and the third for an extra rinse...

I haven't touch them.

We have rain water, never add salt in any of our DW.
Water pressure is normal, plus I don't want to consume more water...
No need for extra rinse... Everything comes out perfect....

For normal small loads I use a small amount of Miele DW powder,
For big loads after dinner parties I use one finish quantum tab.
Never prerinse anything....

The programs are amazing,
The Intensive does one hot prerinse, one cold prerinse, main wash at 65C, rinse, final hot rinse and turbothermic drying 85 min.

There are two universal programs, on at 65C and one at 55C. Same as the intensive but only one cold prerinse.

One economic with no prerinse at 55C.

One for Crystals at 50C, same as the economic...

One that is cold rinse only and the last program is the plate warming this is only one hot rinse and drying...

I have the service manual for the G500 models. These were pretty fast dishwashers and actually pretty quite for their time.

I've had a read of the user guide on the Italian website.  It's interesting comparing it to a modern dishwasher that Miele is currently selling, for example G6260 SCVi.  I wonder what the difference in performance is.  Of course it's not really about the facts and figures, it's about owning a vintage machine and loving it!  I really want one!

 

Intensive cycle on your machine:   2.2 kWh,  34 litres, 1h 25m.  Main wash 65 ℃, final rinse 65 ℃.

Intensive cycle on current G6260: 1.45 kWh, 15 litres, 2h 54m.  Main wash 75 ℃, final rinse 60 ℃.

 

Eco cycle on your machine: 1.4 kWh,   21 litres, 1h 4m.    Main wash 55 ℃, final rinse 55 ℃.

Eco cycle on current G6260: 0.84 kWh, 9.7 litres, 3h 18m.  Main wash 52 ℃, final rinse 47 ℃

 

Noise rating of G6260 is 44 dB(A) but I'm not sure about your machine.

 

As for the difference between the diameter of plates that can be accommodated, not a massive difference:

What a spectacular example you've picked up on!

 

The best part it, the racking is similar to the 14/15 year old Miele I used in Norway... So you can always scrap some of those machines for parts

As I did for my washer/dryer Miele tower, I wanted your thoughts for my
lovely dishwasher as well...
There is a long discussion after every diner party...

-Don't' you rinse the plates before???

And I naturally reply... -No, there is no need to, at all!!!!

I use it nearly every day, smooth operation, a tiny amount
of Miele powder and everything comes out spotless!!!

Any recommendations for making it live longer???

Hi Dimitris,
I've had the same dishwasher (with a bronze fascia) since last June and I'm more than satisfied with it. It had a leak issue not long ago, but it was just the grill over the TurboThermic fan which had got a bit loose and some water leaked inside the door.
My local Miele Service advised me not to use strong maintenance cleaners like Finish and the like as they can be harmful to some plastic parts in the machine: they gave me a sample of their dishwasher maintenance powder and told me to use half the recommended amount once or twice a year at the most.
Except for the pans I use for broiling meat, I never prewash anything just like you - some light scraping of particularly dirty dishes and letting very messy pots/pans soak for some time is all the preliminary treatment I do. Most important of all, my dishes sit in the dishwasher a couple of days before I can run a full load (I'm single and living on my own) but they always sparkle and shine when they're ready.
For some reason, the detergent dispenser in my G562 can actually hold gel detergents, at least thick ones like Finish - I use gel only as my sink drain got horribly clogged with undissolved tab residues last year, and I got the plumber's advice to never use tabs again although I was a big fan of Finish Quantum and Svelto (the Italian name for Sun) tablets.

I love when you guys respond in Italian or whatever language.

I had two years of Latin and worked in kitchens with portuguese, brazilians, colombians, etc.

I can always sort of understand what is going on.
