Miele Ranges and Rangetops

So after what seems like years of speculating, whether Miele will eventually release ranges - here they are. Not sure if I like the look of them. The oven control panel seems very low.

The images of the ranges ARE  butt ugly but no worse than Viking or Wolfe professional ranges which is what these look like they are  trying to compete against.  I've come to realize that I don't need these type of ranges to accomplish the kind of cooking that gets done in my house.

I love having native Autocad dwg downloads from manufacturers! I suspect Miele will do fairly well with the gas ranges here though don't see much market for high-end electrics aside from perhaps a few induction models. Miele should offer those if they don't, or even better a range with both gas and induction burners.

They'd actually sell very well here.
There's a market for very high end ranges in Ireland and Britain much more so than on the continent.

You see loads of full size ranges in electrical shops here both electric and gas.

This kind of thing along with the more traditional Aga, Waterford-Stanley etc which have gone quite high tech. Some now sport induction tops and fancy ovens but you can also still buy the solid fuel versions if that's what you're into.

I have to say I kind of prefer the retro, softer looks of the more traditional brands like this one. I find some of those ultra-industrial looking designs really look more like they belong in a commercial kitchen than a home, but that's just my personal taste.

What I will say is that I don't want another natural gas range.  No more.  I would prefer electric induction and I think that was a Miele offering.

There are a few different manufacturers offering induction ranges already though.

I don't really think Miele's offering's anything all that innovative although it'll be interesting to see what the quality's like, but at that end of the market the quality's usually excellent.

 

You're looking at about €3500 for that Stanley range with an induction top. That's about $4480

I kinda like them

I currently have a 36" 6-burner all gas range that I'd like to replace someday, and was leaning towards Wolf. We had a Viking in the last house and were not impressed. My parents have two Wolf gas cookers and are very pleased with them. These new Mieles look pretty nice to me, though. I like that the Miele hob is black and not stainless, which is a chore to keep clean. Our range is 6 burners with 3 double grates. They're dishwasher safe, but too big to actually fit in the dishwasher. The Miele might have the same issue; it's hard to tell from the pics and schematics.

I'll be looking forward to reviews of these models to see if they are real contenders. If I recall, Miele's first North American rollout of built-in refrigerators had issues, so perhaps their ranges will need a generation or two to work out any bugs.

I bought a Miele larder fridge a few years ago. I don't think it's worthy of the name tbh.

It's not great at all. The thermostat failed after a few months and they replaced it.

The salad crisper drawers all broke under normal use as the plastic was too flimsy.

Also the drainage channels block regularly and items get frozen to the back wall of the fridge.

They don't even make them themselves AFAIK.

Just very disappointed with it as you buy Miele for Miele build quality not the badge on someone else's product.

The grates are supoposed to fit in the dishwasher.  Geez, the only thing this range doesn't have is a dishwasher. There's a convection oven with steam (if plumbed), a speed oven, a warming drawer... The manual must be 400 pages. ;-)
