Does anyone have access to the Miele service manual for my W1215 washer? I had a Miele tech try to walk me through how to raise the water levels on my machine but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. Thanks!

Control board for my vintage "electronic" unit runs about three bills, so am not surprised.

Now you know why so many otherwise good Miele washing machines, dishwashers, dryers and other appliances are chucked to the curb as rubbish. Control boards and other parts can easily cost 1/3 or more of what one paid for the machine. Add to this Miele's lavish call out charges as well.

If one is handy, changing a control board is not that difficult, indeed in the UK and EU there is a large DIY crowd who repair Miele and other laundry appliances themselves. Miele parts are easily available off the shelf so to speak and local appliance parts dealers.

Finally there are a few enterprising lads in the EU who will "repair" one's old Miele control board for a decent price. Have not used the service but from what one understands you send in your fried board, and they send back either the same repaired or one they have finished already. Cost is much cheaper than new and so far customers seem quite happy.

Google "Miele Control Boards" and it should come up.

Come to think of it, isn't this washer rather new? New control board and labour should come under warranty, I should think.

Are you sure you've shorted the control board out and havent just misprogrammed it? That series of machines without the full display can be a pain to program via the numbers and flashing lights?

A Miele service call should be able to tell you whether you've just confused it, or whether it's terminal?

I think...

Brisnate 81 is right. I would call the Miele Service. I think when something would be shorted, there would be no light or sound. And still it's a good machine!

Well, I called Miele Service today and the technician walked me through how to diagnose the fault, apparently the technician from yesterday didn't know what he was doing, or I got confused or something. Anyway, my machine ended up in some European mode and none of the other cycle settings matched with the European mode and it FREAKED OUT on me! But, no biggie, the tech helped me reprogram everything back to where it was supposed to be and he helped me raise the water levels properly and my FABULOUS Miele is now running a load of towels with a very healthy amount of water! YAY!!!!! :D I'm getting a Miele tattoo for sure now!

P.S. I forgot to mention, I wasn't charged a dime! :)
