Sump float. If anything starts leaking, water will pool in the sump area and send a may-day to the mainboard. Display will say "Waterproof system activated". This better not happen until I'm about 50...
Ok I'm done Thought you all would like to get an inside view of a Miele. I've scoured the internet for photos of similar models but they are very hard to find. Wanted to share the inner workings!
It's simply wonderful! In my opinion nothing can compare with Miele care in building its machines. I'd love to have a look inside my W4446 too! Thanks for the beautiful photos!

I'm not 100% sure how the 2 devices work together. I know the white air gizmo down by the heater has an air hose that connects to the little round gizmo mounted to the front cradle, and then from there it goes up to the mainboard pressure switch. I wasn't about to take the thing apart to see how it worked, digital photos only
No problem. When I bought it, I even fell asleep in front of it a few times watching and listening to it. *I'm in need of a Miele Intervention*. When my partner returned from Antartica in March, he thought it was awfully small vs our LG. It's exactly 1/2 the capacity but washes so much better. It actually uses WATER! It's hefty build, and high quality components will outlast the LG's I had previously by 15 years I hope.
I will post more pictures of it and it's matching dryer and pedestals once I get the basement finished.

ha!
My husband definitely laughs at me for watching ours, too. But you have to, if you really want to learn what's going on with all the cycle options... and it's just fascinating.
I couldn't fall asleep watching ours, though... it's on a hard slate floor. Not so comfortable.
