I too had a Hoover New Wave, mine was a 1300 washer/dryer. I'm on a search for another one as i sold it because it wouldn't do 1300rpm and i had already replaced the dryer element and the brushes. I thought i'd just go get another one cheaply as they're fairly easy to find here. I found the spin washing absalutely fantastic. My favourite machine to date.

They certainly were/are awesome machines. My mums 1500 is a lot quieter than my 1400 - mine was a lot more 'throaty' when in the spin cycle whereas the 1500 is a lot smoother - they certainly were ahead of their time tho. The spin profile during the rinse sections is great - doing four spin bursts of different speeds. I used to love the last were it zoomed from 0 to 1400 in a matter of a few seconds and then cut out. I'm home for Xmas so will try and get video of the spin bursts.

I have to agree they were ahead of their time. And still don't look out of place today. I did like the spin profile during the rinses mine seemed to do the same speed because it was faulty but it was still good! i'd love to see a video if you can!
