it may be long term planning but if my current Maytag washer broke i think if my mom ask me to pay for next set i would go with the huebsch, (speed queen tc5 model) or try to find a whirlpool made direct drive Kenmore. Washer dryer if looking the refurbish as new road, because to be honest i have doubts on how long my curent washer will last. Sure i understand about the longer wash time but on my curent washer even if it start with cold water when set to warm or hot water wash it do not mix, if i base myself on the ge dishwasher i use to own that only lasted 3 years when i started the dishwasher even if i had sani rinse or hi temp wash option on water did not heat up and a week later control board failed forcing replacement after 3 years.

As i mention only planing because never know what will happen when it comes to full electronic appliances

Panasonicvac what kind of problem do your brother has with his maytag mine is that it do not mix hot cold water when set to warm or hot wash its starts cold like suppose to but when the time comes to add hot water or do the mix switch hot cold if set to warm it do nothing and keep filling with cold water

There's something wrong with the transmission where it sounds like the gearbox is failing. Luckily it still works at the moment but it just sounds rough.

Maybe you should have your brother have a maytag service tech come check is washer or search sites like craiglist or a nearby store that sell use refurbish as new for a direct drive washer or look into the speed queen tc 5, and do you think its normal when using the maxfill wash when it drains that the pump start to drain stop a few second and then drain. If things keep up i doubt mine that was bough new in 2021 last 3 years or more

I did let my sister-in-law know about it but it's their deal if whether they'd want to have it fixed or not. But she definitely hates using the washer cause it just does a terrible job, even I'm not impressed with it either. Unfortunately I can't answer your question about the pump cause I'm not so sure, I never used it alot to even tell. But I can tell you that when the washer breaks, I'll talk to them about upgrading to a front loader cause top loaders I think are just outdated nowadays. Now don't get me wrong, I do love my Kenmore 90 Series top loader that's a Whirlpool direct drive built machine. However, my LG front loader does just as good if not better but uses WAY less water, electricity, noise, and lint removal. I also really like the size capacity and it has more features that I find very useful unlike my Kenmore or any other top loader that I've used before. I grew up with top loaders including a GE Filter-Flo but ever since we switched to our first front loader, we never looked back.
