Happy new year folks! I'd love to learn more about this old washer my mom uses to wash firefighter gear at her work. She says it's 30 years old at least. I used it to clean out some vacuum cleaner bags and filters I was servicing today like these NSS M1 PIG outer bags for example. Overall, I was really impressed with it. Reminds me of the commercial washers I used to use at a car wash I once worked at before but the detergent are automatically dispensed from the Tide Professional buckets, not this one but would've been cool if so.

Milnor is one of several laundry equipment manufacturers with a line for protective gear.

This pretty much explains why such laundry machines exist.

Washer/extractors themselves often are not much different than cousins of same rated capacity. What will be different is programming options which are designed to cater to turn out gear.

Turn out/protective gear are made from various fabrics that obviously behave differently than say cotton or linen. To keep their various properties after being cleaned yet allowing for such decontamination is function of special washer/extractors along with chemicals used during wash process.

Wash NSS outer bags-figuring these were dump bags. The NSS M1s I have use disposable bags.So the outer bag will not get nasty.Wouldn't you have to remove the metal bag coupler before washing in the Milnor washer? The metal coupler is enough to cause damage to the washer drum. And of course the coupler so it couldn't no longer go on the vacuum.

I didn't remove mine and there was no damage done inside the drum. I was confident it was going to work after using the washer many times before. Still better than washing them by hand or buying replacement outer bags.
