Mixmaster find

On my way to Home Depot for some downspout this morning, I spied an older mixer sitting on an old sofa set out for pickup. On my way back, I swooped in and picked it up. Only one beater was left with it, but when I got it home and plugged it in, the motor works just fine. Probably needs the head gears lubed, though. Not visible in the photo is a bowl size adjustment lever in the back. No bowls for it either, but they shouldn't be too hard to find. I already have an older Mixmaster (9) with bowls and other accessories. This one was mainly just to add to the growing collection. Once it's cleaned up, that is.

Its very possible that very little was wrong with it, as you say.

 

I have about decided that some of our collecting is made even easier because so many people Do Not Cook anymore.

 

Although I don't have any Sunbeams, I got started on Dormyer when my Dad broke my mother's.

It is badged as a Wizard from Western Auto.

 

As we know, most attachments are run on the fast speed; he took out the gears/head assembly grinding meat on slow.

 

I bought a KA to get by 6 or so years ago, until I could find some parts for the Wizard.

 

Turns out, that most are dirt cheap on EPray, so not only was I able to get a few for cheap parts...I ended up going nuts...

I think I have about 5 or 6, complete, really don't know.

 

I found the all stainless, chrome version (don't know which...its still in the box new NOS) for less than a good hand mixer today.

 

Same theme...I like Devilled egg plates...they can't hardly give them away!

 

 

Nice Mixer, and if you decide you want anything to compliment them, there are plenty of them "here".

Post Script: I personally think a stand mixer makes a better pound cake than the KA.

Differences among Mixmasters

I have three model 12 Mixmasters and one is clearly quieter than the others. I have a model 7B, a model 9, a model 11C, one 14CSW, and one 701-10D. The last was NOS in the original sealed box. Swapped out the brown plastic stand for a metal chromed one. This time of the year, I am juicing oranges. like the strainer that joggles!

I am wondering what model this one in the first post is (there is no model indication on the machine) and the best way to access the gearbox to clean and lube it...

 

Oops, never mind. It's a Model 12. And I found a service manual online...
