Mixmaster Power Plus preventative maintenance?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me with this. I have my mom's Mixmaster Power Plus that she got as a wedding gift in 1984. Kind of unusual since it had the 16 speeds and taller bowls. I also have a KitchenAid Artisan that I use regularly. But sometimes I'll use the older Mixmaster. I'm sure it's only in my head but I think it produces better mashed potatoes than the KitchenAid. So far I haven't had any trouble with it and I know I have to be careful with it given its age. But is there anything I can do to prolong its life? Is there any place I could send it to have it serviced and see if it needs anything done to it? Thanks

You are not alone-feel my Mixmaster makes better mashed potatoes than the KA.

Will make much finer grained cakes than the Kitchen Aid will.

For my usage---Sunbeam for mixing batters and mashing potatoes.KA-for bakers--kneading dough-whipping cream.Have both types of machines.

I also find it easier to add ingredients to the Mixmaster without all of the ingredients going flying. And the KitchenAid pouring shield is just a pain to use. And while not necessary, the bowl light on the Mixmaster is kind of cool.
