Modify Max Spin Speed of washer?

Hi Folks,

I have an LG washer and I've heard that alot of the new models have the same motor inside and I was wondering if its possible to bump up the spin speed past its max? Has anyone heard of this or is it possible? If they chassis is the same with different bells & whistles I'm wondering if there may be a "rev limiter" on there somewhere

Why would you want or need to bump-up the Speed of your LG Washer's ability to Spin Faster? I'm just being as with many others, curious to what your idea behind the reason was.

Is your LG Washer without a faster Spin, as other maybe more "TOL" Models have?

I thought that almost all of the LG Washers had at least a 1200-RPM Spin available on them? I've got an LG Compact Washer/Dryer and it has a 1400-RPM Spin Speed on it.

"BTW" do you know that if you feel the need to Re-Spin some heavy items to extract more Water, after doing a complete Cycle of Wash, Rinse and final Spin, you can press the Power Button, select the fasest Spin Speed and press the Start Button. It will go into the Cotton Cycle and to a Spin-Only to give an addtional Fast Final Spin.

Let us know why you are wondering about this idea of a faster Max Spin Speed.

More extraction

Thanks for your reply. I'm looking to achieve this to extract more water. The model I have spins out at 1050. Its sister model spins at 1150. All that is different on the washer is a heater and higher spin speed compared to mine. The extra spin you mentioned may work. I'm wondering if its possible to bump it up though. Check out page 24. Unfortunately mine is a Canadian Model and has "water plus" instead of quick cycle so the method doesn't work. I'm going to try and find a service manual for my model and see if its just scaled back compared to the sister model. Let me know what you think.

Update

Well I found my service manual today and it lists both the US and canadian models! It still lists the procedure but it doesn't work as I don't have the quick cycle button. Does anyone know the workaround? Also, is it possible to increase spin speed by different interchangable parts?

The spin speed is a function of how the motor control microprocessor is programmed. For instance, the top-of-the-line Whirlpool Duet HT (model 9400) has a max. speed of 1200 r.p.m. The same machine sold by Sears, which carries the model number 9450 (which I have) has a top speed of 1250 r.p.m. This is simply a result of the microprocessor on machines wholesaled to Sears being programmed slightly differently. This is not something which can be done in the field, as far as I know.
