I just helped my parents demolish their shower walls today. I mentioned awhile back about the mildew issue they were having. It already looks/smells better.

In disassembling we were discussing the shower/tub faucets. It has the Moen single knob shower control from the 70s. It still works great but the finish is worn. They don't want to deal with the plumbing though, so would prefer to leave the valve in place and just update the trim plate and handle, new shower head and tub spout.

I looked up their unit and it appears to be the Legend series, which is still made. I think they would prefer a lever handle instead of the plastic knob they have now. But I'm not sure it's possible as it is a push/pull style.

Has anyone dealt with updating these faucets and have any ideas on new trim kits for them?

I updated our Price Pfister shower face plate and knob a few years ago. I also replaced the valve at the same time. I researched on You Tube for instructions on how to replace the valve. Most home improvement plumbing depts carry face plates and valves for all the major brands. Check out Lowes and HD online to see whats available. It was really very easy to do this and made a big improvement in how the shower looks.
