Yep! You've got the bug! But it's a good thing as Martha would say! Evidently you have the ability to see pieces of coal as diamonds and can make them look like it.

Everyone can see the pride that you take in the work you do to restore your gems.

I'm sure people on here can't wait to see your next project or endeavor.

I have such admiration and ENVY for your skills!!! maybe I'll pick up a few things that I can accomplish - but at 64 I may be a late late bloomer

repair skills

thanks stephanie - I have a number of small appliances that I've collected over the years - all work - but sometimes you get that "hot" smell which makes me wish I could diagnose them - I have 6 or 8 of the old beehive Osterizer blenders which might be good learning projects ... another project might be to understand the little motors on my Singer Featherweights - all of which work - but I have read posts from retorers who "clean the brushes" - no idea what that means! ahahahahhahhaahhahahhaaha .. and then there's my super cool Turquoise Electrolux!

pcasa . . .

That's a beautiful Lux, I love anything turquoise! I assume you know those old cloth hoses leak terribly, it's nice to keep 'em around for the cool factor but if you ever want to use the vac you could  source a modern vinyl replacement that would drastically improve the suction. When I was small one of my grandmothers had a neat old grey tank vac older than that, I think it was an Electrolux but can't recall for sure. She lived in Upshur county, I bet you know where that is!

yep!

Upshur county isn't too far away ... as for the hoses - I read somewhere about a process where you can actually line the inside of the old cloth with something like a liquid rubber - crazy right???? for me the old hoses are beautiful aesthetically and enticed me to make the purchase .. I found this one at an estate sale in Highland Park in an old garage -there were a couple of cannisters - and all these hoses - I quickly grabbed the turquoise cannister and all the hoses!

I've also heard of the liquid rubber hose lining but haven't tried it, to me it makes sense to just have an additional hose rather than risk the original, at least until someone else perfects it. I'm not too knowledgeable about Electroluxes but there are lots of people at Vacuumland who are, bet they would know what other Lux hoses would fit.
