Hello to everyone, the Whirltag bit the dust last Feb after only 6 and 1/2 years. Thinking about buying this dishwasher would fit on my counter.Who builds this model and is it any good? They don't give a model number Thanks, Maytagmike.
I tried www.wards.com and to my surprise there is a website out there for Montgomery Wards. That was a surprise.
Others may know for sure but it seems most of them are made by the same vendor, just branded differently. I have one that I use as a backup machine in my utility room and I don't really have any complaints. It holds about 1/2 of a full size machine. The one I have cleans well, takes about 90 minutes for the heavy wash and it's very quiet. I would say, measure your counter to see if it would fit. If you have plenty of counter space and can live with the smaller load size you'll probably be OK with it. You could also put it on something like a microwave cart and roll it to the sink when you want to run it.
The name is still around, likely sold to the highest (in all contexts) bidder, but that trainwreck of a catalog/brick and mortar retailer derailed long ago.
I guess I was surprised that any remnant of Wards was still around. I thought they were long gone.
I looked at the countertop dishwasher on their site and it does seem overpriced to me. If you want a Countertop dishwasher I would shop around a little bit. There have been many new options over the past few years and you might find a model with features you want at a lower price.
Another option is craigslist. They pop up often. I picked mine up on CL for $50 years ago. I've not had a single issue with it.

I bought my sister one a couple years ago for Overstock.com. I paid around $279. Her's is a Danby, which I think they are all the same, just different names.
Those dishwashers do an excellent job, they're just small.
If you're ok with something that compact, go ahead, but I wouldn't bother paying more just because of a name tag.
The same dishwasher is sold under several different brand: Magic Chef, Danby, RCA, Cosco, In Brazil they're even sold as Electrolux and Brastemp (Whirlpool).
They must have all non US web addresses blocked from viewing their page. I can see them no offering delivery to foreign countries but what if say I or someone wanted to buy a gift for someone in the states.. they're losing sales.
Wanted to bring every body up to speed, I bought the dishwasher from Montgomery Ward, built by RCA. I have had it almost a week now and it runs beautifully, It has seven cycles stainless steel inside and also a silverware basket. It is also very quiet for a countertop machine, I couldn't be happier.
