More LG Problems....

My washer and dryer are located on the main floor of my home.

As of late....the washer turns itself on...all by itself ..and on 2 occasions it decided to change cycles after I had set them while doing a load of laundry.

I now own the set for a year. Thankfully I had taken out the extended 5 year warranty for a hundred bucks. Money well spent, since the repair man needed to replace the main circuit board in the machine yesterday.

After he left, I did a load of laundry....and noticed that water no longer recirculates and sprays on the clothes during the wash cycle.

Silly me....I thought that the high price tag on this machine.....meant that I would get quality and dependability.....

There goes that concept!

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your LG's. I hope you can locate a phone number for their executive offices here in the U.S. and start SCREAMING!(Stock brokerage offices usually have a directory for that.)

One of my favorite things to do is get through to the President's secretary and let him/her know what is happening------that usually does the trick.

When all else fails------remember EACH city in the U.S. has a "city directory". We had them at the funeral home, but you can always go to the library and look. If you can find out the names of the senior executives in the company----and the city the executive office is located in-------you can usually cross-reference the city directory and find not only the office number but the HOME number of that executive!

More than once I have called the home number of a high-powered executive and spoken rather aggressivly to their wife! Wow did THAT get things moving rather quickly!!!!!!!!! Satisfaction guaranteed!

all I can say is .... I MISS TIMERS....

and appliance mfgrs would be well-advised to install an old-fashioned on-off mechanical switch to break the circuit to prevent just such events as above.

Imagine if a computer-controlled self-cleaning stove/oven went into that cycle (900 to 1,000 degreed Farenehit) and the heat source "forgot" to shut off. [Remember that paper begins to spontaneously combust at 451 degrees farenheit.]

I too am sorry about your problems with your L.G. goods, I own 4 L.G. appliances,1 vacuum cleaner,1 microwave oven,1 large screen television and 1 d.v.d. player and they all work brilliantly, I wonder if it is possible L.G. might make pretty good audio-visual appliances but crappy whitegoods?, although I should also point out a own a Aus$1100 dollar Bosch Maxx front loader which broke down earlier this year and took 5 weeks to get repaired, so I guess it is possible just to get a lemon when buying these things, but thank goodnes you had the foresight to get the extended warranty plan.

LG is Crap

Hi All,

LG seems to be hit and miss in the quality stakes, kind of like when they were Goldstar.

Our LG Convection oven takes 3 times longer to warm up my frozen soup than the 20yo panasonic at work does, the LG has almost twice the wattage.

The cleaning power of the LG dishwashers in australia is pathetic, I read an interesting article on a review site, where when a customer had complained to the Office of Fair trading regarding LG's lack of interest in the useless dishwasher, The Office of fair trading pointed out, that no where in the LG dishwasher literature for that model did it say that the dishwasher actually cleans dishes. According to the user even if all is rinses clean when it goes it, glasses still come out crusty. We have the same dishwashers at work now, and unless its clean when it goes in, its guarenteed to come out dirty.

One of my friends has had her control panel on her dishwasher catch fire, and my old work had 3 LG fridges fail and be unecconomical to repair just outside the 2 year warranty.

Finally we have an LG PABX at work, and even after a replacement of 12 blades, the system still randomly goes into a reset loop and has to be powercycled until it boots again.

I breifly contemplated one of the original big LG frontloaders, but I'm glad I didnt waste my money.

One shouldn't tar everything with the same brush. The same company may make lousy dishwashers, great clothes washers, and unreliable refrigerators. Here in the US, it seems that Whirlpool comes closest to having all their products of decent quality and performance
