Just picked up this 1959 pair this weekend!  And the washer has a suds return cycle — never had one before.  The washer makes all the right noises, but no spin.  Haven’t tried a water test yet but need to get in there and really give both machines a once-over.  As you can see, the dryer needs a little help with the console — anyone happen to have a spare glass console piece kicking around?

Anyway, another “retirement” project for sure...but just couldn’t pass up these beauties!

A beautiful set, Todd; congratulations! The 1959 era is my favorite—love the simplicity of the single-cycle dial and the agitator/lint filter cap. This is was the first automatic Maytag I saw in action as a kid. Think I jammed a whittled down paint-stirring stick behind the raised lid to bypass the lid switch. So quiet compared to our 1960 Kenmore, and built like a tank.

Todd,

Congratulations on a great addition to your collection!  Always fun to find a pair in something other than white.  How about some air time for the Filter Flo pair in the next row?

Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for your message.

The Filter-Flo set isn’t currently hooked up.  The lint filter flow hose is clogged and I haven’t had time to fix it.  The set is a little rough — it was truly loved by its previous owner.  The dryer console is a little worse for wear and I plan to post the dryer on this site if anyone wants it, they can have it.  Not a fan of those GE dryers.  They ran way too hot.
