Hello members of aw.org.

I’m needing some help of acquiring a top loading washing machine due to imp about to hopefully start a new job and my disabled dad is going need to start doing some washing and the only way I have thought that he can do this is if we have a top loader, now I’ve been looking at newish machines like Bosch and Hoover and they look like crap to be honest so I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who is looking into departing with a older top loader or knows where one could be for sale I know this is a little bit of a task that I am asking but I’m sort of desperate lol a family friend is willing to re-jig the layout of my kitchen to accommodate a top loader I’m not looking for a American style on like whirlpool I was hoping for a Hotpoint or something along those because they have a slimmer design and I live in a two bed flat lol,

If cheap and cheerful is what you want, the Hotpoint WTL500P is available at Appliances Online for £305. The machine seems to have many positive reviews, especially about the cold Eco Cycles and the fact that the Hotpoint has wheels. It only has a slow spin, 1000 and a 5kg load.

For an extra £100, also at Appliances Online is the Hoover HNT6414. Based on the Nextra models, the Hoover offers a faster spin speed than the Hotpoint, 1400, and also a slightly larger drum, 6kg. There have been a few cases of these machines breaking down, and many think that the control panel is confusing.

For £429 , the Whirlpool AWE6760 is the most expensive of top loaders from Appliances Online. It has a 1000 spin and a 6kg load capacity. One of the only problems highlighted in the reviews are that it is fairly noisy.

Bosch/Siemens top loaders are also available elsewhere.

There is also the reconditioned route where you could get a Bosch or a Miele top loader that is second hand or maybe even a Hotpoint WMTL79, the predecessor to the WTL500.

Actually id you could fit an American DD Whirlpool

You would have a better TL washer than any modern unit save for a Speed Queen. WP TL machines measure Approx.69x68 CM, also these machines need a hot water connection as they do not have heaters. The 9Kg capacity and Dual Action agitator will give excellent results even with large loads and you will have the most reliable and most produced TL machine EVER.

Dude, there are so many things wrong with that post.

1. UK power is 230 volts, 50 hz. American power is 120 volts, 60 hz. No way you'll never get an American machine to work on European power, even with a voltage converter, because the frequencies are different.

2. Washing machines in the UK usually require heaters because there isn't any central hot water in the homes there. A lot of Euro-designed machines are meant to be used as cold-fill only.

3. The shipping costs of getting a washer from the USA to the UK would be killer. For the shipping costs and duties alone, they could pick up a new cheapie machine from somewhere local.

I agree that a Euro-spec Hotpoint would be a better machine for the purpose, less fuss, less muss.

OK Qualin since you're so smart show me where I went wrong! Or better yet I'll show you where you were WAY off base.

1. UK Power is 230/50/1 and a 120/60/1 machine would not work. DUH! that's why the WP TL machines sold in Europe were wired 230/50/1.

2. I simply stated that the machines do not have heaters. Not quite sure where this was wrong as I was simply relaying information.

3. Shipping costs would be negligible as a UK WP machine would ALLREADY BE THERE!

Next time you want to trash someone's post at least get your facts straight so you don't end up looking stupid and pissing people off.

TL `v` FL

Cosco sell Whirlpool American washers BUT they do not work well in the UK poor wash poor rinse and very poor spin they are only rated at a G it would be very expensive to run here. a good FL is rated AAA+. You have not said much about what disability you farther has but having worked in supporting people to remain independent for a number of years. I would think of looking at raising a FL machine from the floor 1st

and personal attack on me. Not surprised as he's done worse to our webmaster. If you have hot water available and can fit the machine I still say a WP would be the best bet or else a Speed Queen.
