Derek, you are right about the furry spiders!

They are called wolf spiders and, yes, they seem to prefer dark, moist basements, woodpiles, outhouses, anywhere they're not often disturbed. We have them by the hundreds at our cabin in northern Minnesota. I absolutely refuse to go to the woodpile to get wood for the camp fire after dark. It's nothing to have three or four on a single piece of wood and I will not have them crawl up my arm! We also put those hanging no-pest strips in the shed and outhouse to keep them out.

Well the name-calling and the ugliness has resulted in the loss of a new member. He and I have been in correspondence together in that I feel responsible for bringing light and attention to his post. It looks like he and I are on a good footing with each-other. <br
I so much want to lash-out and lower myself to the levels of behavior previously noted and exemplified above in this thread. (And believe me I have done so in the past and can "out-tw@t" anyone, easily.) However I fancy myself to be the Embassador of Peace [no snickering, bitches!!!!!] and strive to bring harmony to this place when I can. Let's celebrate our similarites as humans and loving spiritual beings, and not let egos and our other lower human qualities rule. <br
I personally want to see an end to name-calling and egotistical flare-ups. And stop feeding the GD trolls! I may dislike some screen personas, but that doesn't mean I don't care for the person BEHIND that persona! Unless I have met a member in person, I refuse to have an opinion on 'their worthiness to breathe the same air I do'.vWho, after all am I to judge anyone? <br

I so happen to be a Christian (without the 'ist'), I know how to spell Jesus, and that is VERY OFFENSIVE to me. I have sent you an email saying the same thing but you didn't even respond <br

We will probably never agree on what Christianity is supposed to be about. I saw too many of my friends die of Aids in the 1980's and have lived for too long as an equal citizen in Europe to ever forgive or accept the American Christian perspective that it's good for homosexuals to die of Aids and God meant for us to be beat up, denied housing, jobs and even the right to visit our loved ones when they are dying in the hospital...never mind the right to be married and raise children <br

Fear of Table Saws

These devices do demand a lot of respect. I know one woman who sawed off one of her fingers. It was successfully re-atttached, but not with full function. <br
In any case, there is a type of table saw that I saw a news story on about 10 years ago. It has a safety device built in. As soon as the electronics sense contact with flesh, a braking pin is fired into the side of the saw blade, bringing the saw to an instant stop. It ruins the blade, but of course that's preferable to losing a digit. <br
Sorry, don't have a product name, and it's possible it's not on the market any more. But it is a thought <br
 
Saws and drills

When I was a kid, I used to be afraid of power tools, not because they can hurt me, but because of the high pitched noise they make.
 
OK, I admit I am a bit creeped out by facial piercings - especially through the lip. Saw an employee at a hardware store today with a major ring through his lower lip... made me cringe a bit. I'm used to the tongue piercing thing, I guess, but the lip is more gross <br
And yeah, I understand people pierce themselves in a lot of other places, but those are not normally on display when one goes shopping
