More stain removal help needed....

Had a potluck last weekend and used some older candle holders.  I have no idea what the metal is, it's very soft and bendable, they are pained a brass color.  They are hexagon shaped and the base has a clip to hold a taper and a small well to collect wax.  One overflowed wax onto the table cloth and left a green stain, almost makes me think of oxidized copper. it was a white taper so it's not from the candle.  Used paper towels and an iron to get the wax out but after laundering there is still a green almost turquoise stain remaining.

 

I pretreated it with Amway SA8 prewash, added Clorox oxygen bleach to the wash along with Tide HE in warm water.  I'm thinking of trying a paste of Barkeepers Friend for the oxalic acid and letting it sit for a bit and rewashing.  Any better ideas?

Ironing Over Wax Stains

There are two schools of thought on this, and one says not to do it, as the heat merely pushes the wax and or colour deeper into the textile.

Oxiclean will not remove the wax or it's residue, but *may* help with the dye. However I'd remove the remaining wax stain first, then see if any colour remains.

Wax is an oil/petrol stain, thus you will require some sort of solvent. Years ago there were plenty of "dry cleaning fluid" type stain removers on the market for home use, but most have either been discontinued or changed formulas because quite frankly the other stuff was dangerous.

Being as the above may, seek out products such as "Goo-Gone", K2R, Goddard's Spot Remover, and or any of the solvent based spotting agents normally sold in hardware stores. Follow the directions for removing "wax/lipstick" stains carefully, and make sure you use them in a room with an open window.

After use, rub some liquid laundry detergent into the spotted area, allow it to sit, then launder. You need to make sure the petrol based stain remover is broken up and removed before laundering. Don't want your washer to blow up! *LOL*

Kirby Lickety Split

have used it against red wax stains, felttip pen marks, greenish copper stains and motorbike chain grease.

Whatever it was a little paste of Bar Keeper's Friend did the trick, after second laundering stain is gone.  I made a lite paste and applied it, let stand for 5 minutes and tossed in the FL with a little detergent.  Problem solved.
