Met up with Al last weekend to pick up another few classic finds for everyone to share @ The Emporium. A rainy day in Cumbria didnt dampen our enthusiasm as we stepped into a vintage timewarp from the early 70`s. This was a newbuild house early 70`s high above the town was situated in a close of 8 detached tall roofed houses with tree filled gardens. The original owners stayed until present day and the now new owner was busy transforming it into a modern home for his family....

Here are the first pics straight from the cars..Presenting the Hotpoint 1504 top loader from 1971 and the Hoover black paneled Superjet dishwasher with spinning basket !!

More Vintage Finds: Hotpoint 1504 & Hoover Superjet

I first saw this model as a kid visiting my friend whose parents ran a large pub and restaurant. This was the work and family washer, situated in an upstairs room the tall back could be seen from the roadway outside, (at eye level from the school bus ha ha ) the waste pipe used to billow steam from all the hotwashes as it hit the drain on cold days.

Hotpoint 1504

It also had a "Bio" or powders switch which made any programme COLD fill and took advantage of the new range of biological detergents such as Ariel....

A two position SPIN selector was for a long Cottons spin @ 1050rpm and a shorter spin for delicate fabrics. A 3 position LOAD LEVEL gave you options for Small Medium or Large capacity which was rated at 11lbs of dry clothing.

Hoover SuperJet Dishwasher

At this point am hoping Al has more pics of the Hoover SuperJet Dishwasher, I am just editing film footage of the Hotpoint BUT just after the wash filming we had a flood (talk about Pride before a Fall) which gave me a serious sense of humour failure knowing we had to move every single piece of kit to mop dry...ha ha - NOT !!

There was a good outcome though, the next words uttered where " Well That Settles It - the newbuild is having 4 inch standpipes and floor drains - Yup

The link is to a super thread that Paul (MatchboxPaul) produced a while ago and shows the timeline and info on the fabulous washing machines!![this post was last edited: 2/5/2017-06:29]

Hotpoint top loader

The condition is almost perfect and so little use !!!!
What a great collection of top loaders and looks brilliant with all its relatives next to it !!!!
What was the history of the machine ?? Clearly been looked after . Amazing find well done

Well Done

That 1504 certainly does look like it hasn't had much use, there doesn't even seem to be any evidence of filter tray rubbing on the text inside the lid. What caused your flood? Was it just a drainage issue or did one of the hoses give way?

The Superjet looks fantastic, it would match very nicely with a Belling Classic 80 with the black oven door. Speaking of which, I see that the intertwined circles motif on the Superjet was pinched by Creda in the late 1970s to decorate the whole of the top oven door of the Carefree.

Ooops. Bombsite. Guilty as tried. Sorry. LOL!
Ian.
