Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I would vote also for the Holy Grail of 1-18's, but I think the Custom Imperial model from the year or two before was much more feature laden than the all-push-button 1-18.

Applicance consoles and auto dashboards

Anyone ever notice the correlation between the way each was styled through the years? Late forties, both were functional, plain. Mid to late fifties, unbelievable variety, as if they were entries in design contests! Early sixties, still plenty of chrome and style, but toned down some. Sevneties, still a little individuality. Today ... can't tell one make from another.

Yes they did make the Kenmore push-button series shown in Gansky's post. Remember seeing them at Sears and at the home of a couple of lucky people we knew.

Everybody loves it

So would somebody please talk about it--what all the buttons say and do, etc. Tom started but went off on the dryer. Would someone please satisfy our craving.

Thank You

What a neat Philco there Ken. Looks like that washer will light up, a 45 will come out, and it will start playing music! That agitator looks like the spindle on some of the automatic turntables of the time!

"...He's a Juke Box Hero, got stars in his eyes!" 1981 song by Foreigner...one of my favorites from the eighties!

Peter, that Fridigaire set looks like it was the set that was intended to be sold with Flair ranges...what an interesting set with those tall control panels

The 60 Lady Kenmore

Well, I at least am fortunate to have a 60 Lady Kenmore dryer in my collection. It works fabulously.

58 Four Star Kenmore

But I think I must say that my 58 Four Star dryer is my favorite of all times! It is looking feverishly for its mate! ((--::

It's just so classy and fine!

OH!! NO!! NOT ANOTHER KENMORE!!

Dick those are really something! Glad to see that someone has one of those! I just know that one day you will find the mate to that 1958! Best of luck!

Rick

I will have close up shots of both dryers posted no later than tomorrow morning. I just got off the phone with another member and would you believe the call lasted almost 2 hrs. And what were we talking about all that time? Old vintage washers. I've got to climb into bed right now. I'm exhausted from our great chat. Oh, I'll throw in another pic of the 60 I had taken earlier. Notice the compartment in the dryer door.

pic 2 of the 58

Maybe one of these days I'll find the room heater adapter for it. It sure gets cold out in the washroom during the snowy winter months. It'd be great to have the room filled with Bounce's new Linen Fresh Scent. Yeah I know it would be a bit moist in there for awhile. ((--::

Oh and Rick, thanks for your comment about finding its mate one of these days. I'm workin' on it. We must catch up with one another soon. I'll give you a call after I get back from my voyage up north.
