While wandering through Target earlier, I came across Mrs. Meyers "Scent Booster." A product that (I gather) serves no purpose but adding even more scent to one's wash.

My immediate reaction was: "Do we really need MORE scent added?" I've never used Mrs. Meyers, but "too little scent" has seldom been a complaint of mine. But I guess they must feel there is a market for something like this.

Mrs. Meyers

I have her Countertop Spray, Glass Cleaner, Bathroom Spray and have tried the DishMachine Detergent. I also use her Manual Wash Dishsoap.

So far I like the Bluebell, Basil and Lemon Scents. They work pretty well too.

I haven't tried any of her Laundry Products.  I use Persil Universal Powder and am waiting for Rosalie's to come on the Market.

Personally I do NOT like any scents on my clothes. Forget Dryer Sheets or anything else that will make my clothes smell like a 5 and dime store.

Just my preference.

Try the exciting new flavors: Bazooka bubble gum. Pepperoni pizza. Marshmallow Krispie Treat. Lobster. Schnitzengruben mit sauerkraut.

For a couple dollars more, Mrs. Meyer's neighbor will sell you Laundry Scent Remover.

I'm sure Mrs. Meyers is a sweet old lady

Of the many topics on here that always cause a great deal of response, one of them is the discussion of smells...soaps and detergents, household cleaners, fabric softeners, etc. Ya either hate em or luv em. It's always enjoyable to read the comments. The other topic that seems to solicit endless chatter is anything to do with Sears, in particular, bashing.

My late Aunt Clara, my Godmother, was a "Mrs. Meyers" so maybe I'm just waxing sentimental. I do like the smell of peonies.

I'm not sure that it's black/white hate/love. I don't love or hate scents--a lot depends on the circumstances of the particular load of laundry.

What I do despise are strong, overwhelming scents. I remember trying a Tide liquid sample ca. 2009, and the scent was incredibly strong. It reeks, strong. It was so awful that I actually ended up rewashing at least one item without even wearing it.

The only time I'm insistent on unscented is when line drying certain items. I want sheets, for example, to have the dried outside scent, not some laundry detergent scent.

I think a slight scent for some items (particularly sheets) can be nice in winter when dried in a dryer. Note I say "slight". I can about imagine using that Tide I mentioned above, and having nightmares all night long that I'm trapped in an exploding perfume factory.

I know several people who are very sensitive to scents and I of course respect that. I think I deadened my sense of smell with all those bottles of Jade East I used when I was young.

Some people's laundering habits result in laundry that is not really cleaned of things that build up and go rancid. These scent boosters are meant for people who associate strong artificial fragrances with processed laundry, sort of like the smell of pine oil was associated with sanitation in the south up through at least the first 70 years of the 20th century.
