My 806 Gets a Mate

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

LDG309, serial 883469CT, October of 1979. Works nicely, so much quieter than the GE.

I'm guessing we're MOL here, with no sensors, no drum light. I wish it were TOL, but I'd take it over what it replaced any day. I'm guessing the automatic cycle is based on exhaust temperature?

Excellent catch!

there, Eric!

Yes, the automatic setting here is thermostat controlled.

And yes, Maytag dryers are (were) very quiet.

Nice cleanup, too.

Enjoy!

Very nice!

It is so neat when a match for a favorite washer or dryer is found! Congratulations and hope the halo of heat will serve you well for years to come!!!
Nice save, Eric!

Congrats!

What a catch!

I'd say the yelowish-brownish muck by the vent-in is typcially just dirt associated with combustion of natural gas. Clean it up once, and you are good-to-go for 5+/- years, I'd say.

Nice lookin big load there! I'm sure the 806 is happy to have a little company ;)

I'm guesing that Maytag introduced Electronic Ignition on the big load gas dryers. Is that correct? I have a DG306 that I need to test and see if it works. Hope I don't blow up the house trying to light the damn pilot, lol.

Thanks everyone! I'm still on the lookout for a DG806 but this machine is much improved in the meantime.

The gookus was mostly dryer sheet wax as evidenced by the smell of it. If the gas was that dirty, 30 years of buildup would be all over my kitchen.

This machine has an electrical ignitor, and even has a sticker mentioning that inside the door - no standing pilot here.

Only thing that bugs me is that the door swing is the wrong way. Not likely that i'd be able to move the laundry room around to suit it.

Eric, unfortunately you're one of tens of thousands of Maytag owners who have had to endure the same problem and lived with it over the decades, if I'd gotten a Tag set in 1978, I would be included in that count. If that was the only reason why I didn't get Tags back then, it wouldn't have kept me from getting them. Part of the reason for the advent of later designs whreby the door was switchable.

I have 2 and half pairs of central dial Tags now: 1 golden, 1 almond and a green washer
