Here is a picture of an AEG Lavamat 600 that I purchased second hand - then I got rid of it because I found one STILL IN ITS PACKAGING! These machines are the beasts! Why oh why did they change to modern touch control and preset temperatures - it seems like we take one step forward and two steps back!

Anyway. I will post a picture of another of my AEGs which is currently used as my second machine - the one in packaging is still in its packaging until such time I feel like it needs to come out!

memories

When I moved to Cornwall 14/15 years ago the kitchen had the 800 spin version of this machine, we got rid of it to a friend some years ago and as far as I know it is still working, very similar programmer to the type used in the Hoover logics.

Yes a well built sensible washing machine.

Glad you have one

Gary

congratulations!

You talking about the AEG washer which never been used,I must confess it's a miracle; so you are the happiest guy in the world. Enjoy it.
By the way what kind of Lavamat you talking about? hope it gonna be a Sensotronic one with Variomatic, you know the genuine AEG with the soap dispenser located on the right side of control panel, how could I want more! Awesome
Don't forget to upload some photos of the his/her birth!
Here is on of his/her brothers waiting for new family member.

Yours sincerely

Indeed a good one.

These machines are really something solid.
My cousin owns one with its according dryer, both running and humming away for more than 25 years now without a single repair.
(But even back then, the 600s appeared like the beginning of saving on substantial materials (read: going more plasticky) compared to the original series (the Lavamat all metal double door war tanks from the 1960s and 1970s). I can tell, as I own one of those really OLDEN Lavamats from 1964, that thing is in perfect shape, doing 2-3 loads a week until today. Ok, some 110 kg of weight won't make house moving a breeze...)

A sideline to all who it might be of interest: Your 600 series Lavamat was featured in the Sunil detergent TV ad back then in the 1980s where a younger woman (clad in a bath robe) says: "Sunil, I myself am the one to know what's best for me".
Back then this was a smack in the face of all "decent and hardworking real housewives" of the 50s and 60s (-> how on earth can a woman get up and NOT care to be in decent street garments at 11 in the morning??? Those lazy daughters!!!)
Sunil did well, the TV ad was aimed at the younger generation and thus the detergent powder made the shift to current times (away from its dusty spiderweb spinster image of the 50s).

For the old TV commercial, see link please.

I made a screenshot of the commercial. That AEG looks like an older 600 series, with the square buttons, not the round ones. Actually I prefer the older ones over the newer ones. I had a 625 that had problems with the pushbuttons at some point. The repairman told me the round pushbutton mechanism was cheaply made.

Hey,
I prefer the round-type key models, cause you run the washer by pulling the dial out, in some other(older) models, I guess, with square-key you need to push the start button to run the cycle.
I like the first one, genuine AEG!

Both series, the older one with the square buttons and the newer one with the round buttons, had models with pull out timers and models with a separate on/off button. In general the cheaper models had the pull out timer and the more expensive models a separate on/off button. The more expensive models with the round buttons had the most problems with the push buttons. The more buttons, the bigger the problem with the mechanism behind it.

Yeah you're right, but I think it's more convenient that you run the washer by pulling the dial out.
and after that when AEG started to produce newer machines, they used start button instead of in-out timers, as you said spatially in newer machines, and just after that, boom! revolution, full electronic boards! no move moving timers. models got like this:
AEG OKO-LAVAMAT XXXX.(SENSORLOGIC)

by the way, do you have any idea with these numbers on timer assembly?
following model: AEG OKO-LAVAMAT BELLA 850
I asking you cause your background logo is V ZUG. I just know it's Swiss-made, high end appliances, and some model of V ZUG washers have common parts such as timer, door seal,etc... with AEG OKO series(~90's).(I red that on online-spare shop)
so any idea would be great.

Yes, some V-Zug Adorina models were AEG's in disguise, don't know about model numbers. Your AEG Lavamat Bella 850 comes close to an AEG Lavamat 610. But some 610 models had 4 push buttons, others 5.

If you need parts for these machines, it's best to contact AEG and use the E-number, that's how they identify the machine.

Hiya Guys! Sorry, have had a really bad time but back on track and completely forgot I'd uploaded pics of my used AEG 600. I have still not taken the sister one out of its packaging, I dont really know what Im keeping it for but....
I DO HOWEVER have posession of two 1980s Zanussis. One is the Jetsystem with the temperature dial ZFL1023, and the other is the normal model FL1023 with the spin slider. They both work and are a treasure. By far anyones favourite machine. I cant be doing with the touch button and electronic displays. I much prefer the dial with the inifinitely controlled temperature control too.

So give me a little more time and I'll upload all my old machines that I have still in my posession.
