Looks Showroom New

Was it in relatively good condition when you bought it or did you have to do a lot of work to it? It is just beautiful and you must be very proud. I know I would be. Oh the hours that would be wasted just staring at it (and opening and closing!).

Wow Bethann, your '56 Frigidaire looks wonderful! She probably even has that new fridge smell.

She's a real beauty. How much longer does Gladys have to wait for her room to be done? And how's Glady's partner doing (sorry I can't remember her name).
 
Wow - this turned out beautiful, I love the Imperial model. It's amazing how much time it takes to clean and polish all the surfaces and parts inside the box. My 56 Deluxe took nearly 4 hours to detail and clean properly, and it still needs to be painted!

Congrats on a job well done - it looks just awesome!

There's still a few small things left to do like touch up the white paint on the strip, but at least she's finally painted!

Patrick: She was in pretty good shape when I found her! Replaced the seals, fixed some plastic pieces,lots of cleaning and paint!

Guru!,Lucky! Oh sorry Robert: She still smells like bleach! There was tons of mold under the old seal so I cleaned her out with bleach before I installed the new seal. She's pretty stinky right now cuz I'm trying to get the new seal to take shape so I have to keep the door closed for a while.

Venus: I seen the box your next! Whoo Hoo!

Greg: I was wondering what you we're doing with those. Their White W/ Pink inserts aren't they? Are you going to paint them white again or be bold and paint them pink? Is the inside of the fridge anodized pink I can't remember? Sure you don't want to sell them to me! I need some that I can paint Sherwood green! Never hurts to ask!

I have no idea when the kitchen will be finished! The duct work that was just put in...Well, I ripped it out! It has to be moved again. I could go on and on but I won't. Let's just say It's getting closer. Found a Frigidaire thermosat to put on the wall the other day, the paper work says 1956. Details, Details......
 
Pink Caddy in garage

For me, it'd have to be a '58. '57 is nice, but '58 is "da bomb" and not quite as overdone as a '59. And it would have to be a Fleetwood Sixty Special
 
Bethannn, once you finish her room, it will be a room with a view for sure. Now, I personally advise against the vintage food Robert suggested. Might have to take a vintage visit to the ER.
 
TOO FAB!

WOW!!! Showroom new is an understatement, this baby is downright FABULOUS in that PINK!!! Gotta love the styling and the "spiked" pull-handle, and like everyone said, the Cadillac of fridges!!! You did an outstanding job on it, congratulations!

Too bad they didn't make the '59 Custom Imperial range in Pink...definitely the '59 Cadillac of ranges, IMHO, but we won't go there...;-)

Bethann, amazing fridge! Look at all those interior doodads and accents.

It looks like it has that heft of earlier fridges where the doors didn't intrude into the storage area, but it has that modern rectangular design. Neat!

So....did it ever come in turquoise?

Austin: Where is the 59CI? If it's in that box, you guy's need to unveil her/ him! Your driving everyone nuts!LOL

Cory: The only colors that the 56 came in that I know of are White, Yellow, Green and Pink.

You mentioned that you painted Gladys. Did you take it to a body shop? Was she electrostatically painted? Austin wants to get some of his washers painted, and aside from an auto body shop, I'm not sure where else we would take them.

Whoever did the paint (was it you?) did a fantastic job. Congrats again!

I should say "we" did the paint. I had help on this one. I didn't want to take a chance this time. I don't recommend electrosatic. I tried that a couple months ago and it turned out like crap! So, we painted her conventional. Made a make shift paint booth in the garage and went to town. I learned a good lesson though! Do not paint epoxy unless you are in a booth with a down draft system! The fumes were enough to rip your head off. I will not do that again!
As far as Austins things are concerned, I would take them to a body shop. I'm sure their porcelain and need to be acid etched first, and if you don't have the equipment it would be to costly anyhow. Then he would have to learn how to use it! So, with all that aside call body shops and get some prices. If he takes everything apart so they don't have to do much taping it shouldn't be to awful much. The prep work takes the longest!
