Soooo.
I picked the Bosch up last night. My father-in-law gave me a lift. It was very heavy! It was missing the drain hose so i fitted a new one and gave it a clean up! The plumbing under our sink is really awkward. The taps are on backwards in between the sink pipes and access is really restricted. I was going to connect it via a y-piece to cold but it was too awkward and the pipes are quite thick. So i connected it hot and cold!

The machine has a big scratch down the side which in time intend to spray paint. I ran a cloth over it and tried it out. The motor was abit growly at first. It is obviously noisier than the old crappoint. But its an acceptable amount:)

So by the time i had cleared it out it was getting late & called it a night. In the knowledge the machine is fully functioning.

Today. I got home & tried my 1st cycle! I did some darks on cotton 30 with ariel excel with higher water level option and short wash option.

So the programme with higher water level acts as follows:

The machine starts off a low waterlevel with slow tumbles. Then it goes to faster tumbles for about 5-10 minutes. Then it fills into the door seal and continues washing with fast tumbles and short pauses. The 3d aquaspa works really well the asymmetric paddles really throw loads of water over the load!

The first spin after the wash:

(A note to construction....It never rebalanced once for any of the spins throughout the programme!)

I'm not sure of the speed think it was about 500 or so. The machines drains completely then goes into a steady distribution with a gradual increase in speed in one constant spin.

Then one of my favourite points is as it slows down from the spin the cascade in the door seal sprays as it spins and slows down!

Rinsing: The machine then filled with the cascade and each rinse has the "guarenteed rinse time" Irregardless of the fill time, the machine will rinse for the set time. The water filled into the seal for the first rinse. All rinse tumbles are a really good speed so as not to make more suds.

The same spin repeats. 2nd rinse was about 3 inches up the door.

in total 4 rinses applied to this wash with higher water level.

Now just as i was thinkin how much i liked the machine....it slowed down from the spin filling through the cascade. then as the drum stops the machine just fills from the bottom with slow tumbles. heres what i wasn't prepared for...a SUPER high logic style final rinse!

Final spin: Long steady spin up to about 800 for a few minutes. It stopped redistributed and accelerated with speed up to 1000rpm!

All in all the wash took about 1hr 10. Everything is washed and rinsed perfectly!!

Hi Darren, she seems to have higher rinse levels than her daughters Maxx & Classix

Love the fact one can select/deselect intervall vario spin on every programme ... hope not on wool :-)

If I'm not wrong drum baffles have a round side matched whith a flat one. BSH said the rounded one is for delicates, while the flat one, having stronger action, is for on cottons.

So, does the machine tumble mostly clockwise or mostly anticlockwise depending of cottons/M.I./delicates/woolens ?
I' m very very curious :-)

Yes your correct about the paddles! Soft on one side and a flat one! It did tumble alot clockwise. thats the side with all the holes in the paddle!

I love the machine so far! Also when you select the machine you set the programme with the selector and the dial on the right is the programme status so you turn it on and it clicks round to the part of the wash you've selected!

Bosch " Excellence Comes As Standard"

Hi Darren,
Congratulations on getting your Bosch home and installed.
From the video you posted I can tell you your Bosch sounds very healthy indeed. That's the the normal Motor sound for your Bosch; it's fitted with an Electronically Controlled Universal (Carbon Brush) Motor which will sound louder as you were used to the Tri Phase Induction Motor of the Hotpoint which as you know is virtually silent when tumbling.

I love this machine. It was worth the wait. I thought i'd never be rid of that hotpoint. This bosch has a couple of marks on it but it still looks great to me!

I've just done a loads of whites without higher water level. Just the short option on cotton 40.

The machine did a nice paced drum rhythm throughout the wash. then the interm spins were really fast with the cascade fills and low rinsing. However. The long fast spins and 3 long rinses managed to rinse Bold lavander powder (which the hotpoint used to leave heaps of suds and smell fairly strong) leaving just a mild fresh smell.

The motor noise is fine for me! I like abit of a purr from the machine.

My girlfriend even made the comment to her parents on the phone that even though it's noiser she even noticed how viberant and clean everything looked.

Congrats on the Bosch. When I changed from my crappoint to the baumatic I noticed a big differance in the way my laundry looked....and even more noticable now I have my Miele. It's such a pity as Hotpoint used to make great machines....I had a 800rpm electronic years ago an it washed superbly and the programme times were quick aswell.

Anyway, your Bosch will cope brilliantly with all that the new baby can throw at it! Happy washing.

How are you gettin along with the miele. Yes it's a shame hotpoint's name has been allowed to be tarnished. I've had a few hotpoints in my time. The last one couldn't be any further away from the strong proud liberatoreque 18...forget the model, 95series & WM43.

It's nice that the bosch had spun everything 1st time. & With the short option the wash can be done under an hour with superb results! Even at 30!

The Miele is amazing!!! Washes superbly.....I did have a wee pange of regret that I didnt get the 3922 but to be honest had loads of programmes I'd never use, and I LOVE the styling of the W1613 and plus it was cheaper!! Iam still playing about with the programmes, trying to figure out which performs better.....thats alway fun eh? lol. The large porthole and slightly inclined drum make a huge differance loading and unloading, the options buttons are a great plus too......anyway Iam detracting from your thread!!!! sorry....I have used the Bosch model you have in a rented flat I had and loved the machine......it really washed well and kept me entertained although was slightly embarrasing when my flatmate came home early and found me sitting in front of the machine washing the action!!!!

Lol ah yes. The fun situation when you get caught sat on the floor lol. My girlfriends used to it. Not so good when someone you don't want to see sees you lol.

So today i've done a easy care 30 with higher water level washing some of our babies clothes ready for him arriving.

The wash did mostly clockwise turns and short anti clockwise turns due to the paddle shape. Flat for aggressive curved for gentle.

Then it did a high level cool down! drained to the seal then REfilled two inches higher than the last cooldown!!!

Then It did the spin after the wash and were still on high level rinses!

I've got a video of the susdy wash! just uploading it now!

Wooah! Progress of towels on cottons with higher water level Biiiig suds! It filled really high with this load and is really susdy and i used normal amount of ariel excel gel!

soapy bubbles

what temp was your suds lock on was that a 90? i have found when washing towels on 90 in miele bubbles get everywhere and then on cool down they all disappear just like magic.
 
Lol scarily not! this was on 40!!!!!!!

I think what it was, is a combination of the really vigerous action and then the higher water level comes in about 10minutes in. that brought out plenty of suds!

Were on 3rd Rinse now and it's just about gone!

Yh, my experience with ariel excel gel (colour) as i only bought those, was bad!

As i don't like oversudsing and my dyson was full of suds with the normal does which is i think 37 ml and it was a whole loas of coloureds!
so now i only use the ariel excel gel on things like gym kits, few items etc.
Gone back to using persil washing powder!

The same of Cbosch happens to me when boilwashing with powders

I never trust producers suggestions on boxes/bottles.

Both my W780 and the W844 use about 10 litres of water in the main wash @ full load on cottons & M.I.

So I rely only on the dosage they suggest on bottles for handwash with 5 or 10 litres of water

That's more true about wool/handwash program. The dose they suggest could fit for the old W780 (high level-old style shrinking wool programme).
Sure not for the W844 low level handwash programme that uses no more than 6/7 litres @ each fill.

Detergent stirring is an issue on handwash progr. as drum turns rarely. I solve this way : I stir the wool detergent with some water in a bowl, then I pour it on the woolen load before starting

Found that interim spins do a lot in rinsing
Despite the fact the older W780 uses somewhat 110 litres and the W844 only 52, this one rinses better, expecially on minimum iron. W780 has only 2 interim spins on cotton and final spin only on MI

Loads of stuff been going on my end - busy busy busy.

Your bosch looks great - love the fact that it is bush button door release and a piano keyed machine to boot.
really glad that you are pleased with it.

One of the machines i use is a Bosch WFF2001 - not in great shape and doesnt seems to spin particularly well anymore. I hasten to add that this is the house machine and not one of mine and rob's collection pieces.
Gets worked hard everyday nevertheless and doesnt seem to complain too much.
