Hello to all aw washer members me i have seen the light and finaly woke up and smell the coffee as they say and started using the warm water wash temp default on my duet washer sure i will use cold water wash on ocassion or when needed depending on the fabric but other wise i am leaving it on warm water but i do use the hot water wash temp for bedding, this is the set my brother and my sister in law purchuse but i do not understand the stubborness of my sister in law of wanting to wash everything in cold water i just hope she realise that with these types of washer the most efficiant wash temp is to use warm sigh. she will learn the day she notice her clothes are poorly clean because of tap cold water well not saying anything but what is the point of having a high effiency washer if she do not use water temp like warm or hot water wash makes me wonder how long there washer will last before it becomes very messy and full of bacteria because of not using warm or hot water?

does grow in warm water. The cold rinse slows it's growth. I bet if you scrape the inner tub of any washer, there will be some bacteria on it.
Even the hottest wash cycle has a cold rinse, which in turn makes the tub "warm".
In fact the first spin out cools it down to a bacterium growth spectrum.

Was there any particular reason for the switch; for example, prompting from members here on AW, or did you find through trial and error that warm suited your laundering better?

Interestingly, the washer I'm now using in this "shared house" has been mostly used on the Quick30 and Quick15 warm cycles. To add to this, it has been kept shut between uses... So there was certainly a "whiff" to it when I first arrived in February.

The "whiff" has now all but disappeared after I've arrived and started doing hot and warm washes on longer cycles, with my own detergent and "Vanish" Oxygen-Bleaching additive. I've also left the door and detergent dispenser ajar after use (and OCD after others use it too!), and even used LCB for one wash recently.
