Yesterday I decided to take all the computer stuff of the desk and clean it and the desk. I unplugged the power cord for the computer from the power supply. Now it won't turn on.

Would this be a power supply issue or motherboard issue? I tried different cords, different power strips, and different outlets and nothing happens.

It could be either

Take off the cover to the computer. Plug it in and if you see any lights or diodes light up inside the machine, it most likely is the motherboard. If you don't see anything lit up, it's most likely the power supply.

If your machine is fairly new, see how much it is to fix it. If it's over 4 years old, you're better off buying a new one.

There is a green light on back of the power supply, and it stays on all the time plugged in. It's not lighting when plugged, so I think it might be the power supply. My Dell uses the same power supply, I was thinking to switching them to see what happens.

When my power-supply was dying it took out my sound-card. I was lazy and had the "computer guy" fix it. I should have thought to have him test the sound card too.

Does your power supply have an on-off rocker switch that may have been accidentally switched off? Mine is visible from the rear of the computer.

There's is no rocker switch, just voltage switch. The light on the power supply still has come back on after being plugged in all night.

It was the power supply after all. I swapped power supplies with my other computer and it booted up perfectly. I friend of mine might have an extra power supply that I can have.

So glad it was just the power supply instead of something on the motherboard.
