Yeah...it does.

I've got a year old Crosley (el cheapo) electric dryer. It's your basic dryer. Timer dial, low or high heat setting, and start button.

It's been making a 'grinding' noise. It does it as the drum turns: 'Grind...grind...grind...' It sort of sounds like something needs lubricant. It doesn't do it all the time. It seems more often with lighter loads. Heavy loads are quieter. My old Magic Chef dryer had a squeaking problem once and I lubricated a bearing (round thingy) on the back and it stopped.

I don't know jack about dryers, so I was curious to know, before I do anything, what is making the noise, and if lubricating is the proper course of action.

Seek and you might find!

Tim,
Go to www.sears.com/parts and enter the dryer's model number and check the parts breakdown there. You will see how the drum is suspended/supported and perhaps find out just what may be the offending part.
Also, if you are so inclined, maybe remove the front of the dryer AFTER UNPLUGGING IT FROM THE OUTLET, and see if you can see any area that looks like it was scraping. Of course it may also be the drive belt so look at that as well.

You may luck out and find something simple is wrong..maybe something got stuck between the drum and the seal!

Let us know how you make out.
