That looks great Michael! I have a model 450 that's not exactly the same but similar, and it too cleaned up very nicely! It lives in my dad's family room, where it goes very nicely with some pieces in there.

Jeff tells me that it runs very well and sounds great. Since I don't know these things yet, I have to believe him!!! LOL I just got done using it at my home and it seemed to do a fine job. Thank you for helping me Jeff!!!! I appreciate it!!!

That looks great Michael

thank you Scott. It was fun to make it look nice again!!! I can't wait for my next one!

Michael, fantastic job!!! I know that you are going to just love having a "Servant" in your home!

Servant to the home... The Hoover

Michael's 700 did clean up really nice, and is in very good shape for 80 years old!

Whoever had this 700 took very good care of it, the agitator is original, as was the plug before I replaced the cord. It runs smooth and quiet, just the way it should. Its also got a fair amount of bristle left on the brush, so it can be used to clean. Michael's basement has berber carpet, which the 700 would do a good job cleaning.
I got a kick out of how Michael tore that 700 apart and polished it, very thorough he is!
Glad you like your 700 Michael, and glad I could help too!

Michael, fantastic job

Thank you Terry!! I do like it very much. You will have to come this way someday and use it!! Maybe while you are here you could visit your old hometown...LOL

very thorough he is

thorough can also mean a pain in the a--....LOL thanks again Jeff!!! appreciate it!

Dual 50

yes.........Jeff gave me the bug!!! I can't wait to get the Dual 50 and start on it!! Take care Greg!!

How it starts

Veg,
I haven't heard about the maytag in a few days.....were suppose to get a set of 806's ......Jeff??? are we getting them? LOL

Michael

Congrats....

The Tucson wash-in gave me a similar 'bug' for Maytags. Only thing, they are a bit larger than vacs and coffeemakers.

Good Luck with your new found collection.

Gadget

why do we get so caught up with this stuff?? LOL Its very easy to do!! I'm thankful that they are not as large as a washer and dryer.....I can have more!! LOL Thank you for your kind words.

Heavenly Hoover!!

Beautiful Hoover Michael!! She's got a terrific shine now!!

It's official...you have a hobby to keep those hands busy (no smoking)! Vacuums today, small appliances tomorrow!! Say YAY for vintage!!

Hugs,
Venus

Michael...

Congrats on your first restoration. Jeff tells me that you did a very good job. It looks beautiful. That shine will last for years. With a little care it will last a lifetime. Those old Hoovers were built to last and they really cleaned using very little electric which is something newer machines cannot do! So what is next on the restoration list?

Tom,

Thank you for the compliment. I enjoyed shining it up!! It did do a pretty good job on the berber carpet. I hope that my next project will be a Dual 50.....(do you hear that greg??) LOL I never knew they made as i call them...baby kirby's..ever since i saw one i want one!!! they are adorable!!!! anyway..........that is what i want my next project to be. I love to clean them up!!! I also want an 825 but the one I found is in too rough of shape...I want to find a little bit better one. Do you have one you would like to get rid of??? LOL Thanks again Tom!!

Michael

Beee utiful Hoover!!!

Michael, if you are going to start a collection , the 700 is a great vacuum to start with! It came out beautiful! What did you use to shine it up? It looks like you are using steel wool? I don't do electricity either so don't worry. I leave that to the professionals after my Hoover 62 fiasco where it seems i wired ALL the wires together and blew fuses in the house! Next up for Michael is a Mixmaster! What do you think?

Mixmaster for Michael

We've already done that Marty, I found him a gold one, Brady Bunch style 200 watts, in beautiful condition! Also got him an Osterizer Classic VIII blender too.
The bug has definately bitten him!

Thats Fantastic!!!

I have the Brady Bunch MM in green! Well he is off to a great start!! Does the Osterizer have the gold flecks on the front panel? I've been looking for one of those for awhile.

Mixmaster

Hi Marty......thanks for the compliment. yes, i used steel wool and mother's polish. Jeff taught me. He is fantastic!! I guess I shouldn't have called this thread "my first vintage appliance" since I have the osterizer and the MM. The osterizer is all gold....no specks. i'll post a picture of it. i saved it from being killed!!! Jeff was going to turn it into a lamp!! (love you baby) it is a beautiful blender!!

i want more vacs......i want a kirby dual 50 and 80 and also a hoover 825 (my favorite)
