why do we get so caught up with this stuff?? LOL Its very easy to do!! I'm thankful that they are not as large as a washer and dryer.....I can have more!! LOL Thank you for your kind words.
Congrats on your first restoration. Jeff tells me that you did a very good job. It looks beautiful. That shine will last for years. With a little care it will last a lifetime. Those old Hoovers were built to last and they really cleaned using very little electric which is something newer machines cannot do! So what is next on the restoration list?
Beautiful Hoover Michael!! She's got a terrific shine no
Thank you Venus!!! (btw.....where did your parents get that name from???.....i LOVE it!!) I can't wait to get a dual 50!!!
I'll keep you posted as to any new "toys"!!
Thank you for the compliment. I enjoyed shining it up!! It did do a pretty good job on the berber carpet. I hope that my next project will be a Dual 50.....(do you hear that greg??) LOL I never knew they made as i call them...baby kirby's..ever since i saw one i want one!!! they are adorable!!!! anyway..........that is what i want my next project to be. I love to clean them up!!! I also want an 825 but the one I found is in too rough of shape...I want to find a little bit better one. Do you have one you would like to get rid of??? LOL Thanks again Tom!!
Michael, if you are going to start a collection , the 700 is a great vacuum to start with! It came out beautiful! What did you use to shine it up? It looks like you are using steel wool? I don't do electricity either so don't worry. I leave that to the professionals after my Hoover 62 fiasco where it seems i wired ALL the wires together and blew fuses in the house! Next up for Michael is a Mixmaster! What do you think?
We've already done that Marty, I found him a gold one, Brady Bunch style 200 watts, in beautiful condition! Also got him an Osterizer Classic VIII blender too.
The bug has definately bitten him!
I have the Brady Bunch MM in green! Well he is off to a great start!! Does the Osterizer have the gold flecks on the front panel? I've been looking for one of those for awhile.
Hi Marty......thanks for the compliment. yes, i used steel wool and mother's polish. Jeff taught me. He is fantastic!! I guess I shouldn't have called this thread "my first vintage appliance" since I have the osterizer and the MM. The osterizer is all gold....no specks. i'll post a picture of it. i saved it from being killed!!! Jeff was going to turn it into a lamp!! (love you baby) it is a beautiful blender!!
i want more vacs......i want a kirby dual 50 and 80 and also a hoover 825 (my favorite)
Beautiful appliances Michael, so what have you whipped up in that mixmaster? Something good I bet. The blender is a beauty too. I bet that we could whip up some good drinks it that! I agree though, it's to pretty to change into a lamp as long as it worked. However I think the lamps Jeff makes are so neat as well. I want one of those in the worst way and every sale I go to I look for an old Osterizer.
is one of the nicest ones I have ever seen, I got it from ebay and it was darn near spotless! The only signs of use are the writing rubbed off the dial and the large bowl is cloudy/etched from being in the DW.
Thats also one lucky Osterizer. I had intended to make that into a little lamp for Michael's breakfast room, til he saw the blender and said "You can't ruin that!"
So the search coninues... If you find one you like Terry send it on up and I'll make it into a lamp for you.
Jeff thank you so much. Ever since getting down here I have been on the look out at every estate and tag sale I go to, and believe me I do hit a bunch of them so I know I will find one sometime.
thank you Terry!!! You'll have to come by and help me and Jeff make something in the blender and the MM. I love the 700 also!! I DO need to use the MM and blender more!
