Just to let y'all know that my grandpa has been having congestive heart failure the past week and this morning he's had a stroke. We don't know how bad it is yet but it seems like a major one.

Please keep "Pa" in your prayers today and let's hope he makes it.

Thanks!

Jason~

Wishing your Grandfather a speedy recovery. I will keep your Grandpa and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Jason! I'm so very, very sorry. I hope and pray that your grandfather has a complete and speedy recovery.

Mike

Well, he had a low blood sugar spell this morning but he also had slurred speech and couldn't get out of bed. On the way to the hospital, they fixed his sugar and he was wide awake and talking fine in the ER. The doc checked for signs of stroke (smile, etc.)

They ran a CT scan and found nothing BUT they will keep him a few more days and continue running tests to see if they found anything. Hopefully he's ok.

Jason,
Working as a Paramedic, I know how low blood sugar cam mimick alot of things, glad to hear the CT was negative, any other infection going on that may have attributed to the blood sugar problem, keep us posted, thoughts and prayer to you

Well, he's ok now. They brought him some food and he's eating it. All vital signs look ok. But they want to keep him in the hospital to run some more CT scans to see it was a TIA he had.

sorry to hear this i'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and may he have a great recovery.

I am glad Jason. If I can offer some advise, I have a senior Dad with congestive heart failure that was ok for a few years and then he had "stroke like" symptoms and was rushed to the emergency room. It turns out that because of heart failure, there was insufficent blood pressure to the brain, called ischemia, which looks like a stroke, except that after it happens, the heart beats fast and then they recover after blacking out and convulsing. My father's solution was a pacemaker(overnight operation) to compensate for the insuffiecent heart production and he has not had a "seizure" since. Please ask if this will help your grandpa, it was a miracle in my Dad's recovery. The key word is pacemaker solutions for heart failure. If your grandpa is on blood thinners and blood pressure regulators and has insuffiecent heart production, he could have ischemia at any time, fall down and hurt himself. Talk with the cardioligist. Best Wishes, Phil

Thanks for the update, Jason!

I'm encouraged by the news. I look forward to more of the same. I also continue to hope and pray for Pa's complete and speedy recovery. Hang in there! I know how hard this must be on you and your family.

My 86 year old father also has congestive heart failure. We forced him to get a second opinion. His new cardiologist suggested a treatment called Natrecor. It literally saved his life! We were told that Natrecor isn't for everyone. It also requires an overnight stay in the hospital. Maybe it's something that your grandfather should ask his cardiologist about? (My father's original cardiologist never mentioned it.) The link will take you to some additional information about it.

Once again, hang in there and keep us posted!

Mike
