I've enjoyed seeing some of the unique heaters in A/W over the years and thought I'd share mine with you all. I have always had a fascination with heaters - the earliest one I remember was a "Cory" baseboard heater my parents used in our basement in Nebraska. It had glowing red rods on the left and right sides of a central fan.
First, I show you my 1980's Kendal Radiant Panel Heater. It is made in Spain by Tranexport SA, Barcelona. I purchased it at Montgomery Wards. It can be used with the wheels as a portable heater or without them as a wall mounted heater.
Here is a front view - control panel close-up to follow.

Patton HF30W

This one is also from the 1980's.
It has a timer and clock (digital) but I've covered it over with electrical tape because it was a pain to set with the membrane buttons.
It also has a replaceable filter on the back.

Arvin Heater

This ARVIN is a model 29H60-2 that I've had the longest of all of them.
It's from the 1970's, I believe.
I used it at work for years and the dent on top was caused by a roll of coins falling on it!
I use it in the bathroom now. Still works great, although the fan takes a minute or two to "ramp up" to speed.

A nice platonic admirational relationship

with my Big Heat. Misleading name, it's only 3x3x5, only thing that would fit in my stingy apartment bathroom. 1500 and 1250W, fan forced over coils, sensitive thermo can tell if I crack the window. From 1988. I dust it out and oil the motor every couple years.

Sorry, no cam.

Have you ever encountered those "framed oil painting" panel heaters. I'd never seen one until a month or so back at the Restore there were two of them. About the size of a 32" inch flat screen tv,, Wintery painted landscape, big gold frame, mount on the wall and plug it.. I was sorely tempted at the time.

Panel Heaters

I remember seeing some of those panel heaters that look like paintings in the 1970's at the local "Crocker National Bank". Your description sounds just like the ones I remember. I have never seen any since...

Heaters are fun

I've worked a couple of places where the A/C goes on in the winter and the heat goes on in the summer. For that reason I have fans and little heaters at work. (As does everyone else LOL!)
The first I had was a 1980's Arvin desk heater like yours but in white plastic. I liked it a lot. I willed it to a co-worker when I left.
Now I have a Braun heater at my desk. I forget the model. Bought it in unused condition at an estate sale. It's from the 1960s but you would never know. All metal and works great.
A really fun piece I've got is a Knapp-Monarch heater. It's tall and uses heat rods. However the internal structure is painted red and it has a red Christmas-type bulb in it so it looks like a little fireplace. You don't get those little "extras" nowadays!

I used to use this little guy to keep me warm on those rare cold nights in my studio apartment in Fort Lauderdale. At 1350 watts it just took the edge off the chill and took up no floor space as it rested against the wall/power outlet. Manual thermostat that would cycle the fan off and on.

Nice heaters,  nothing more miserable than a chill on the floor and cold feet.   Does anyone have a vintage Tropicaire?  I think they were Knapp Monarch from St. Louis Missouri.  I loved the "wedge" design have not seen one in years.  alr

Robeson 2714

You all have some nice heaters. I love the Presto 5000 and like the Patton HF30WR
Tropicaire? Any photos ? I've never seen one.

Technopolis - like that night light on your fan.

Never heard of Kendal - but Patton and Arvin(esp)have been around for years.

I haven't seen any other collections of heaters (plenty of fans) - and I got excited about finding an older
heater. Today I just picked up one - no idea how old, can't find any info, but the owner bought it from
Service Merchandise(I forgot to ask him how old it is). It's dual, single, radiant and forced air (soft) convection and it looks and works like new.

Anyone have any idea how old it might be?
