My Hotpoint has a new record for spin balancing

The Hotpoint took so long to balance that it decides to spin unbalanced, it has 6+ chances to balance or it will either spin unbalanced or just skip onto a rinse.
Notice how the machine tries to balance the load, it's pointless for the balancing control system on all machines.

How annoying is it when machines spend ages messing around balancing then just go off balancing anyway!! When i had the samsung it was normal to wait anything up to 10mins for a short spin. I dont know why they made that machine so fussy over spining, what a nightmare lol

Maybe the skeptical side of me...

...but I've always found it's cheaper machines that tend to be more sensitive to balancing! The Bosch, the Electrolux machines I've had (Zanussi/AEG, though the AEG was fussy it never took more than a minute to balance), and the Mieles aren't too fussy about balancing and will still spin if teh load is relatively unbalanced as the suspension can handle it and the machines will still remain relatively still during the spin. Lesser quality machines don't have as much "beef" to them and the suspension is poor... which is the reason why I've always thought that they've had more sensitive out of balance sensors!

The same problem

I hate this feature of the new Hotpoints, it's so annoying. My machine went through all that on a set of nice and even tea towels. There was a nice even half load of about 10 tea towels, which balance perfectly.

What was striking about that film was the fact it was perfect to begin with, so it's so annoying to watch it then unbalance them. The balancing system isn't very good either as I don't think it redistributes properly.

One thing that seems to make a difference is doing a full (not overfull) load. These machines do not like to be under filled.

Mieles also weigh so much that they have relatively little risk of bouncing anyway
All that stainless steel and cast iron doesn't tend to jump around much.

LOL. My Siemens that i had in the bathroom also had this crazy balanced/not balanced frenzy. Even if the clothes was perfectly balanced the machine didnt think so. At times it span even if the drum banged and the machine jumped. Weird. It was like the machine "felt" it was unbalanced, to a point. If it was over that point it acted like the load was perfectly balanced.

I have now chanced machine so i have a used OSBY machine there now instead. Very silent and newer problems with unbalance. I bought the machine cheap from Blocket (Ebay copy in Sweden). Only problem: Belt was in bad shape. But that is fixed now so it works perfect. Yeah, there where lot of coins in the lint filter as well, so it sounded strange when pumping out. Nice, money for free! LOL

my hotpoint does the exact same thing, mine will not spin at all though and at the end of the cycle if it has not spun it just sits there with display sayin final spin and nothing else. The way around this i have noticed is on my machine i have a button for single items to be washed and if i press this at the start of the just spin cylcle it will just spin whether the load is balanced or not, must be like a bypass switch, not noticed it on the new ultimas so not sure if your machine has it. I cant see why they changed it as the originall hotpoints just went into full rpm regardless and there were not too many issues.
