Electrolux WH1075M

Hello Mike,
You say you sold washers when Jon was a babe in arms, do you by chance remember the Electrolux WH1075M? My mum had one before we got the Creda Micron 17201, it was brown with a chrome door and a silver fascia. It was an impressive machine but terribly unreliable, drum bearings failed 4 times during the two years it lasted. I ask as the only example of this machine I have seen was mums.

Thanks for that. The models with the Variomatic Spin option had a button marked with a "V" overlaid upon the spiral spin symbol, didn't they?

Hi there Jon

Congratulations on the new machine. I love these old machines. I remember my AEG 1200 microprofile (I think that's what it was called) bought in 1996. It was a nice smooth machine and very well built but its water levels were awful, but I think that was just that period for washers in the 1990s. My mother has it now for dog blankets and dusters. Maybe I should try and get it back one day. The only thing I didn't like about it was the small port hole which was pokey for getting large sheets out.

The Microprofile machines had a different spin to the normal timer dial machines. The microprofile used to gently ramp up the spin like a Miele on rinse whereas the other machines used to step up. I wish now I had bought the timer dial version as they are far more flexible.

Hope you are enjoying it anyway.

Professional Detergent..

Hey Nino

Im sure Jon wont mind if I answer on his behalf..

Im guessing hes been shopping in Netto- the last couple of months they have had huge 9kg boxes of various professional detergent- both P&G and Unilever.

They have been approx £12.99(E19 approx)

Professional Detergent

As far as im aware the word Professional from my days in Hotel and Catering simply means a BIG BOX of it - not stronger in cleaning. The above Ariel may be the old (domestic) formulation inside a new design box but its no stronger in cleaning power than whats sold as that partial formula when it was also in old style domestic boxes. There is only 1 formula of any detergent generally whether for domestic or professional use. Like industrial Lenor its not got a stronger scent. Nor does it soften any better. Its simply in a bigger bottle than a supermarket size. The only products I know which definitely are stronger are disinfectants for industrial use. Take toilet cleaner, it has to be stronger to be used in a public toilet to provide effective protection against constant use from public and to initially reduce bacteria on initially cleaning said lav! Sorry my post is a bit woolly, not sat at the pc to do it :( point is there is no such thing as Ariel pro its all about box size. Rob

Jon is using the pro stuff

cos it more likely works out cheaper to buy KG For Kg than buying a smaller pack in a regular shop, Nothing to do with anything else really.

we buy big boxes of professional detergent, even tho i get bored easily :P
It does work out cheaper when you do the math.
We used to buy 2 kg boxes of Bio Zet for around 8 bucks, we got a 10kg bucket for 25 bucks, so yeah, savings :)

I also use professional detergent, but I only have one packet to test it.
It´s Mr.Proper / Mr. Clean and the cleaning resulst aren´t as good as with domestic Ariel.
Next time I´ll test Persil Professional or Ariel Expert Formula.
I´ll tell you about the results.

Electrolux WH1075M

Hi David,
Thank you so much for the WH1075M user manual, that was the beast alright! It brought back a lot of memories and I can clearly remember reading the user guide in my young teens. It was made in France and was actually a great machine at washing and rinsing. I remember the engineer fitting drum bearings every few months, the machine had a Stainless Steel outer tub but an Aluminium back plate which led to severe bi metal corrosion. The bearing seal was a weak point on this machine with water contamination destroying the bearings. I sincerely doubt any WH1075M machines are left in existence. You cant make it out from the user guide but the power button was bright orange LOL, the rest were silver.

Jon, I am so happy for you! Nothing beats being able to reach back in time and acquire something you have wanted since childhood. Such beauty in the design and, as you say (and as we all wish to have said about us), so well preserved and lovingly cared for. I hope you enjoy the realization of your dream for a long time. Tom
