Mike and I talked about getting together and meeting at my house so he could check out my machines. Then as time grew closer (the day or two before) I though it would be nice to invite other people too. BUT, a Monday evening is not the best time to have people over because their work schedules, traffic, etc, etc. I invited a couple people (remember this was NOT going to be a wash-in) knowing they probably couldn't make it. Then at the 11th hour I invited one more.

Eventually when the doorbell rang there were four, including myself! From Left, Mike, Joe, Russell and yours truly!

Since I (just by chance) never got around to doing my laundry over the weekend, I thought "OK, then I will do it now and give us more to chat about! So I had FOUR machines going at once! (even though this only shows the GE and 806, both going into spin).

Part of my collection as it stands now...

Here you see the Kenmore Korner (with the Easy Spindrier too) and the Maytag Mall!

And.......

Kenmore Korner (as I call it....LOL).

It was a LOT of fun!! I will have to do this again on a weekend so more people will be able to come by!

KEWL!

Thanks for sharing the pictures - it's always fun to see how collections are arranged in different homes!
Hubby doesn't know it yet, but we're going to be doing some basement remodelling at some point... lol

Thanks for sharing all the fun Kevin, looks like you have a great collection there.

Kevin

Kevin, I had a GE just like that and it was a great machine. I also have an Esay spindrier washer too. Does your spinner section have a rubber boot at the bottom of the shaft? Mine doesn't and I am looking for another one. Would you perhaps have an extra that you would be willing to sell? Thanks and I am glad you all had a great time. Gary

I also have three other machines (plus the Norge dryer which is now in pieces), all of which are not pictured.

I would like to apologize to anyone I did not invite, again "my thinking" was Monday night was just a lousy time to do this due to work schedules, traffic, family obligations, etc.

This was A LOT of fun and I WILL have another in the future, but it will be on a weekend so more people can come!

= = = = = = = =

Gadget Gary, No my 806 does not have the "timed" bleach dispenser... and it was built in Jan, 1980. Also, the white 1975 806 I had (and sold) did not have the "timed" bleach dispenser either.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I had a great time. It was fun to play with another filter flo and see the Maytags and Kenmores in action. Your 62 Maytags are a fantastic find and I am glad you have a set like your parents had. I think it is funny that our parents are so indifferent to the fact that we have the washer and dryer like they had when we were young. The collecting gene must skip a generation I guess.

Oh, it was also fun to play with Rich's skinny mini. We need to use that one next time.

Hope to see you, Joe and Russell at the next Long Beach Wash-In on May 24th at my place.

EMP

Sorry I missed the fun, Mike. Next time. I can't believe how your collection has grown.

Hey Ethyl May...you are a skinni-mini yourself! You look great...better go down to the local bakery and smell the bread!

Gary (abcomatic)

I don't know if the Easy has the part you are asking about because I have not had it apart since I brought it home a couple months ago. Also I do not have any spare parts for it... sorry!

Kevin

Your 806 did not have that 'timed' bleach dispenser

1973 was the last year for the timed bleach dispenser. I guess Maytag, in their infinite wisdom, probably decided that it was more complicated and more unreliable than a straight shot of bleach directly into tub. I guess the same goes for the 3 way temperature controlled water valve.

3 way temperature controlled water valve?

Are you talking about the 3 coil water valve with hot, cold and a 2nd cold inlet aka the 'energy saver' fill valve (22001138)? If so, that valve survived up into the mid to late 90's or so with the LAT8904AAE, etc. and worked by a switch on the console which activated a 2nd cold fill coil, injecting a 2nd cold fill stream which of course caused less hot water to be used but resulted in a 'colder' warm temp. The next thing of course was the thermister controlled 2 coil valve...

Are you talking about the 3 coil water valve with hot

Oops, yeah, that's what I meant. I thought those water valves went out with the 00 and 02 series machines in '65.

love your pics

always love lookin at pics on this site, always so interesting! i see your kitchenaid stainless door model is there too, take it that is the kd-16 you had mentioned before? beautiful machine!

Congrats on your first wash in!

Great collection you have going there, Kevin! You have not been "at it" that long, but you have found some wonderful machines.

I don't think that pink door would look right on your 62 Maytag though... <:

You have some nice machines there. I had a Frigidaire skinni-mini when I first moved into my trailer in 1993. It worked pretty good, very slow drying, but that's when I found out the dryer duct was severely plugged with lint. I'm surprised there wasn't a fire. I gave them to the person I was buying the trailer from after I got the Sears Shredmore set.

3 temp valves

Looks like you guys had a great time! Call it what ever you like, but there is nothing wrong with a last minute wash-in!

Also the early A906 models had the thermostatic controlled 3 temp valve for a bit of time. At the moment I'm currently working on an '06 (with the focus on the A806) change history log guys - look for it in the next week or so! Hopefully will put an end to the guessing games. ;-)

Good Times!

You collection is growing, and so are your friends!
Awesome!
Thanks for posting your get together!
You have some very nice machines there.
Peace.

First Time Hosting?!!!

I never would have guessed, Kevin. I'm honored to have been invited. Frankly, I don't think it could have gone any smoother if it were professionally orchestrated. ...
And, as I said before; a great way to "let my hair down" on my "Friday" (since I'm off Tuesday & Wednesday)LOL.Fun,it was (still telling my friends about it.) Fantastic, YES!!!!Don't know where I would have more fun on a Monday!
Right from the 6PMish arrivals, getting acquainted;(YES,nice meeting you; Joe & Mike)followed by downstairs to the "Laundry Lab" LOL! And then it was On Your Mark, Get Set; (machines were already loaded)and machine one was started, then at a later interval; #2 and last, but NOT least, Ta Da!! # 3 commenced. Good times were shared by all as the "safety" lid switches were tricked as we monitored the progression of each machine.
Then, as though perfectly planned, after the cycle of the last wash was completed; the Dinner Bell rang, and it was off to Kevins' Magic Kitchen. But; not w/o a little help from the "Team" bringing freshly washed laundry up to the main dryer LOL (will work for food Ha Ha!!) The Reward?? Enjoying an exquisitely prepared meal in a SKYLINE VIEW Dining Room!
Great Meal Kev!!
But wait!! the fun wasn't over yet. There was one more load still waiting for us in the Kenmore Elite Catylist!!! We wrapped up this fun evening watching this multi-faceted washer auger away and looking over the collection.AND,just before the cycle completed;the tripod came out, a group photo was taken and...........LIGHTS OUT!
Kevin, your first hosting!
My first wash-in attending!
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT,LOL...
