In Case you wondered...

That blue container on the end is my Great Great Great Grandmothers, and was at there house when the yankees came thru in 1863 or 1864,The story goes they hid there jewelry in the bottom of it,so they wouldnt steal it!!, It is a Salt container, which is what I use it for today, They did however, pour out the molasses and corn meal, and dunked all the girls dresses in the molasses, or so goes the family stories!

Beautiful woodworking. I would say nice rack, but...

I have a corner cabinet for spices and baking ingredients. I use Rubbermaid turntables, both single and double decker styles as well as white GE filter flow pans which hold several shapes & sizes of both cans and bottles and, with the hub in the middle, keep everything in great order; better in fact than the Rubbermaid ones. It's nice to have laundry associations in as many places as possible.

I Thought of that...

BUT, Its fairly deep, and really, that glass top stove dosent put off too much excess heat, if it was a gas stove, it probably wouldnt work too well.

Sorry For The Masses

Hans, the spice rack looks great and I know you'll enjoy the butcher block counter.  Once it gets seasoned up with a little bacon grease it will be a dream to roll on.  I have cooked for almost 60 years and the hoo haw about spices is over rated.  I think they'll be just fine.  I am surpirsed so many missed the questions of which range to buy and the decision to try a new range.  I am sure you're enjoying self cleaning and a smooth top for clean up.

New Stove...

Well.....I switched stoves about as much as I changed clothes! Donald said one day," Why dont you just get a new one, im tired of all this changing around!", well, he never fusses over anything, so I got a new one...is it built as good as a old range..NO!, BUT, I love it, it bakes great and the smooth top simmers , and generally performs much better than a coil, and I no longer have to clean the oven, the only thing I hate is the utensil drawer, it is totally useless.. The Nutone hood is a 1958!..oh yeah, the laundry room is my other kitchen where I can swap stoves as much as I like!

That is an amazing spice rack. I will have to consider buying or building something just like that for our kitchen.

My mom has the exact same Tupperware salt & pepper shakers that she bought new when she got married in 1967.  Beautiful woodworking, that spice rack will last forever.  Love the history behind your salt crock.

Hans,

Great location for the spice rack - nice and handy when baking/cooking. I love things that are custom-made, one of a kind...they really make things special. Have fun spicing up your life!

The spice rack is nice but I love the butcher block counter. I had custom counters made out of the same thing and they look great and are a dream to work on. I have the same Tupperware salt and pepper shakers and I think the same canisters but in diffirent colors they are the best. enjoy Carl
