Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

but I guess its not possible, due to how little suds build u

The amount of suds building up really has nothing to do with the washing ability in either a washing machine OR dishwasher, but especially in the latter.

You have to remember, unlike us, most people do not sit and watch their washing machine and wonder if they got the detergent right or selected the right cycle. The general consumer is far more likely just to put a tablet in and set the dishwasher going and ignore it. As long as things are washed well and clean, I doubt people will care.

Glenfield, was it really necessary to boost up an old thread just to attempt to correct an 8 year old post?

Just wondering...

On a more positive note - as far as I know this dishwasher is still running well at my mum's friends house, after being replaced when we got an integrated kitchen in the old house.  That was also 2 kitchens ago for my parents... how time flies!

3-in-1 Tablets

I've mentioned before, but I'll say again: The multi-action tablets, for the most part are very useful, contain some extra ingredients to make things easier for you, such as Rinse Aid. However, the "Salt" function is more of a gimmick...

Trouble is, you actually HAVE TO fill the salt tank, since the tablet can't do it. Putting salt in the tablet may help to soften the water slightly in the absense of phosphates, but actually reduces the "lather" of the detergent, meaning it needs to have more soap in it.

For water that is already soft, you get a big foam bath.

This is why, if I buy tablets, I'll usually *just* get the cheapest in say, the Finish product line (Classic), rather than waste money on more expensive versions. Over here, the difference between "Max-in-1" and "All-in-1" is the Salt function, I think.

But I digress: It sounds like you've made the right dishwasher choice! The Automatic cycle sounds a tad long, but its adjustable, which is nice. Does the time include Air-Dry at the end? I'm also curious as to the maximum amount of rinsing and water usage this machine can add on the Automatic Cycle (For a super, duper, amazing Bob-Load of local greasy, sloppy, encrusted plates, pots and pans).

Thats part of the great thing of this forum, we are researchers: Ensuring our buy is the best, and we can say if it truly was or wasn't. Thanks for enlightenting the community! (Pardon my spelling)

AEG Visi??

I can't find any news on that machine. You don't mean the AEG Vision by any chance that also was marketed as Electrolux Visi? That model has been pulled of the market a while ago. I have been considering buying a used one, but it didn't prerinse in any cycle, nor did it have a separate rinse and hold cycle.

Washer111, as mentioned in my post yesterday it is a long long time since I used that dishwasher and was replaced in late 2005 for an integrated dishwasher which my parents still have (they took it with them to their new house)... so I couldn't possibly tell you details about the drying unfortunately, I remember it having fan drying but that's all I can remember.  I daresay water usage is mentioned in the manual, which I'm sure is still available online on the AEG website.

Ooops! I realised this was an 8 year old post after I replied... I forgot all about removing my post.

This is so funny

because I saw the thread, saw it was Jon and wandered in, saw the machine you had bought and thought, "hey good looking machine" and thought  to post THEN I  saw MY POST saying the exact same thing, my head spun for a moment then I looked at the date stamp!! No time slips here, just old posts, but I still had the same reaction 8 years later! LOL!

Glad to see the AEG still impresses, Jon ;).

Currently Bosching it at the moment in terms of dishwashing - back with the Meelay for the laundry though; perhaps this is opportune for another thread, my "new new dishwasher" lol :)

How many?

Jon

I am twice your age, and I am only on my 5th dishwasher LOLOL

I bought the Miele 10 years ago this January past, pleased its still going strong - no other dishwasher I ever owned has lasted this long although in truth number 4 only lasted with me a couple of years, it was an 18" Smeg and I could not wait to get back to a 24" model, I sold it along with my flat when I last moved.

I think half of it can be attributed to my fussiness, then realising I was right in the first place - but don't tell Jack I admit that lol!
