My new, old servis quartz:D

Well tonight i picked up my 80s servis quartz washer! i've only had it runnin about 30mins its abit late to be running it in my garage.

So far i tried out the rinse/spin option to clear it out. the rinse was high up the door & the spin from distribution straight up to 1000rpm which i was very pleased with.

i then began to run a synthetic cycle. the drum is the "spincare" type. basically the 80s version of a honeycomb drum. no holes in it!

the tumbles are faster than normal. which makes for splashy fun so far im thrilled to bits to finally own a machine i grew up with, my parents friends had a similiar model & i spent many weekends watching it. so to finally get my hands on one makes me extremely pleased.

Nothing like that feeling getting the machine you want, I`m sure you will get much pleasure out of this one!!!

This is the same machine as the original Quartz, the model 600, just with updated fascia & full width door, it also came with a full door to take colour panels etc.

Try the special "Multi-Fabric Wash & let us know what you think, but remember "Only with Ariel"

But your FL has "no holes in it". Sound strange.

hey guys,
Mike! did you get the washerdryer that was on ebay a while back? i do love this machine. arent the tumbles about 60rpm? its quiter than my hoovers. seems to have worn well. one lady owner i think. though i think it had family washes a few years ago.

will try that programme tonight & yes "only with ariel"

i think its a 1000rpm. pretty sure. doesnt say anywhere on the machine though.

Interesting machine Darren, congratulations!! Impressive that there are no holes in that drum. Not even at the back or so for removing the water or is the water all removed via the front of the drum?

Now we got you busy taking pictures, could you make a picture of the control panel too?

Great machine darren, one of my ultimate dream machines, i assume from the pic that it has one of those big doors that is actually the whole front of the machine. Good luck with it and can't wait to see pics and video.

Spincare Drum

The spincare drum was developed for the new Servis Quartz model 600 in 1981, Servis developed this model after working extensively with Proctor & Gamble, i.e. A New Machine, New Powder (Ariel)for the era etc...

There are vanes in the back & front of the drum and this is where the water enters and is spun out, the drum is also shaped, it has a ridge in the middle. It also has a slightly faster wash speed , about 60rpm, and has high water levels which give it a very splashy action.

This was a World First, as Servis had developed Quartz microchips from their first computer controlled machine the "Servis Selectronic" back in 1977.

The Servis company as was reminds me of being very similar to Maytag, solid expensive machines, built from a manufacturing experience and having a very loyal customer base....

I've told you millions of times before darren, but I have to say that is a beautiful machine - it sounded great when we were chatting on the phone the other night (although I dunno if your neighbours thought it did lol). Can't wait to test drive it with ya tomorrow .

Mike - it's just a shame that both Ariel powder and Servis are no longer as good as their vintage cousins :-(.

Servis Quartz

Congrats Darren!! Such an awesome, classy machine...what clean lines on the styling, and that drum is nice! Can't wait for more pics/videos!

Hey Guys,
Jon- You're in for a treat when you come over today,. i have about 7 loads to do! servis style of course

CleanteamofNY- the door is on a button release & unlike any other machine i've seen the full panel of the door opens! unique thing that servis used to do.

the7- those are the water entry/exit points. theres a set around the front too...& the shadowing is the design of the drum so the water drains out! its all very clever

westytoploader- thanks for the comments, its about 1986 i think....dont quote me on that im still tryin to find a year & a spinspeed lol. though im pretty sure thats 1000rpm the tumbles are really cool with them being that little bit faster at 60rpm. very splashy when full amount of waters used!
