Ok so this will be my first post.

As some of you know I am a vacuum collector.

There is a guy in omaha who does vacuum restorations, and he does the best most top notch jobs possible. Thanks to a few members here I found out who he was about a year ago. And finally I got something restored there!

This is a 1968 Kirby Dual sanitronic 80 with mostly new parts.

Oh man look at that beautiful avocado green trim. Ahh its the most beautiful kirby ever made!

Yes. This machine came to me fully dismantled down to the last bolt and bearings. So I sent it off to the vacuum shop to be professionally buffed out (the vac shop is known among the vac collectors as the best!)

The rubber trim, bag, motor, wheels, etc are all new.

Thanks!

Meijers

Meijers steel polish is a cream you spred on metal and then polish with a buffing wheel. It will shine up a Kirby in record time.

Will the real restorer please stand up

I have a model G Electrolux that I'd like to have refurbished. It would be great to know the gentleman's name. I'll be going through Omaha in August and I could pick it up.

Brandon, what a beautiful Kirby. The D80 is one of my favorite machines as well. A friend that also lives in Omaha gave me this machine and had it restored by the same guy. He does fantastic work. Thanks for sharing this.

Kelly what is Meijers polish and where do you get it?

The secret

Ok the store is called Odowds sales and service of omaha Nebraska.

His name is Byron. The stores number is 402-342-8300. Please ask for byron when you call. His wife doesn't talk vintage much. :)

He can make your model G look incredible, and better than new.

Ps, Tlee618, is that person a member here? Maybe I know him. :)

Oh yes, this machine was buffed on a machine buffer. Metal polishing creams work well but dont give you the fresh chrome like look. Althought its good for a good clean up and general shine. :)

If you like, you can email Gansk1, a member here, and he seems to have a good connection with Byron so he could hook you up with him, and you can go through him, as I am only 16, so I am not always available, and knowledgeable of stuff that Greg will know.

Thanks for the comments all!

Beautiful! The green is is different from the normal reds and blues, I think it's unique. My Legend II could use a good buffing.

Brandon, no he is not a member but it would be really neat if we could get him to join both sites and the vacuum club!

Beautiful!

My grandmother had a mint Sanitronic with every conceivable accessory, and everyone knew it was to be mine one day. After her death, it disappeared during the estate sale so for a long time I just refused to look at Kirbys as I only wanted a Sanitronic. I finally got over that a couple of years ago when another plastic modern vacuum died, and found a refurbished Legend II on ebay. What a wonderful vacuum! I'm still not convinced about the need for the self-propelled system on modern Kirbys, but these old ones just rock.

That Kirby is just beautiful! You were lucky to be able to get the green trim pieces; my Aunt Doris has a 1951 Kirby that originally had red trim, but the last time they sent it back to Kirby for refurbishing, it returned with some tan trim parts. She called them about it, and they told her they were only making parts for that model in tan now.

She has recently moved to assisted living after having a stroke, and she says I can have the machine when I get down to see her. I hope to go sometime in the next 6 weeks.

Thanks all!

The fan is actually used. Its in just fantastic shape! Looks brand new!

The kirby rebuild program will give you a black trimmed vacuum back now. They dont even have tan. Its sad. :(
