Well the Maytag/Samsung Neptune gave up the ghost this past weekend by yaking up grease and peeing all over the floor and blowing out the controller. So I didnt bat an eye when I told Scott the the washer sh*t the bed. So we went out and bought this one.
Before of what I had

Are all the rinses on this machine cold, or is it automatic select?
Nice looking machine. But it does look like SQ saved some money on the panel design from previous years. But it's whats underneath the covers that counts.

Yeah all the rinses are cold. There is no "dumbing down " of the water temps for the wash cycle. Warm is warm and Hot is whats coming out of my water heater at 140. Rinsing is superb with this washer. Extraction I will have to admit isnt bad but its not like it was with the front loader. The washer does get up to 710. What I might do is with the final spin is to run the spin cycle twice to see how much more water I can get out of the clothes. But I will say that its nice to finally be using water to get clothes clean and rinsed out well. Plus and I know some people could care less but I care...its nice to get the wash done in 35 minutes per load instead of 2 hours like the Maytag took. This alone will save me time and I banged out 3 loads in 90 mins. I love that!

Congratulations!

your new washer is simply gorgeous...and I'm sooo jealous I could die!

Well that Maytags were new in 2005. The washer was having issues like a TE code and then the recall on them with a chance for a fire. Then for the past 3 weeks the bearings were sounding kinda odd and I was finding grease spots here and there on the clothes. Then on Sunday she decided to yak up globs of the stuff and was leaking then I got a poof and then nothing was happening. Smelled like something electrical...you know that acrid smell that you just know something is not right. Tried to restart her but it was no go. She will make a nice Toyota someday.
I will have to say this one thing. We have a Samsung fridge that we have not had any problems with. This washer Maytag should have thought twice before farming it out to Samsung in Korea. The reports on Epinions will make ones hair stand on end when ya read them about that washer.
The dryer has been good but I know eventually I will want the Speed Queen dryer. With that dryer it has a nice large door opening. The Maytag is a tad tight.

Mike, nice washer!

When removing loads, be careful of the bottom edge on that agitator cap. It's sharp! We gouged our hands pretty bad on it a few times, before finally calling Alliance. The guy went through a whole bin of caps ("some are better than others", he said) and sent us one with a smoother edge. It's much better now.

Jeff I am fully aware of the sharp edge on the softener dispenser. When i had my Amana washer it was the same way....with a much smaller opening so i got nailed quite a bit. I eventually had to take it out and use the cap that came with the washer. Alliance needs to retool the mold and make a softer edge to it.

My new Speed Queens

Congatulations on your new purchase. I had my SQ washer and dryer delivered one month ago. I love them. I puchased the TOL top loader, and dryer. I don't know how to post pictures or I would show them as well. They are great machines. I have not had the problem with my fabric soft. dispenser being sharp at the edge though. I wish you the best of luck with your new machine.
