Just got this in this week, a Rangaire WR 550 intercom with three satellite speaker units. This was manufactured in Cleburne, Tx by Roberts Mfg. probably late 1950s/ early 1960s but not sure. I won't plug it in until the capacitors have been replaced.
Hopefully it is better than most later Rangaire appliances, but it sure doesn't look like they spent much on the speakers, it could work well as an intercom but I would not get rid of your Hi-FY system.
Can agree with Combo--cool looking radio-intercom-but not a Hi-Fi system.Yes,replacing filter caps is a good idea before starting it.Like how the machine has a clock in it!Use it as a funky housewide clock radio!
