Been looking for a 2nd fridge for a little while now and today settled on the 430 litre upside down Kelvinator, a fairly basic, no frills type of unit, but looks to have everything I was looking for, deep freezer baskets, decent size, but not huge refrigerator area solidly built, and even made here in Australia!!!.
I was also keen on the 442 litre Fisher and Paykel, but I thought the freezer area was strangely set out, with 3 sliding trays with plastic boxes on the top and bottom drawers and a flat one in the middle for ice cube trays ice creams etc.
So settled on the Kelvinator, the slide out baskets seem to be deeper and more practical.
Is being delivered next Wednesday, so looking forward to getting it.

Congrats, a second fridge should prove convenient. I didn't realize that the Kelvinator brand name was still in use.

Kelvinator in Oz

Hi Retropia, yeah Kelvinator used to be a brand in it's own right here, but now it is part of the Electrolux group along with Westinghouse and Simpson.
Indeed the Kelvinator and Westinghouse fridges are exactly the same only cosmetic differences separate them even with my new model the Westinghouse equivalent has a different colour scheme and the freezer has filing cabinet style drawers and a twist style ice cube unit, whereas mine has wire baskets and just ice cube trays but with a $300 or so price difference, I can live without these features.
Cheers.

We have the Westinghouse badged version. It's a great fridge, but just be careful of the crisper drawer - they are known for cracking along the runners which makes them a bugger to slide in. To help the drawer, always lift it slightly - NEVER just push it especially if full.

Trust me on this, ours broke within the first 6 months of having the fridge...

Crisper drawer

Thanks so much for the tip Chris, I certainly will be careful with the crisper drawer, were you able to get a replacement drawer given yours was still under warranty, I also did not bother with an extended warranty, I feel they are pretty unnecessary really.
Glad you are enjoying your fridge, looking forward to getting mine.
Cheers.

They may have changed it, as it looks like yours has either slides or wheels on it..

No, I rang and asked about it, but because it wasn't anything to do with the actual fridge, rather it was us that caused it, they wouldn't replace it.
