I saw RevvinKevin's pictures of his trip to the junkyard. I showed my mom and as my friends cannot fly down from Maryland, I am able to go to the junkyard.

Now what i noticed is that there are quite a few whirlpools. What i was really wondering was, If there were any Westinghouse Slant-Front Washing machines? I know it sounds silly, but those are my dream machines.

One last thing, if its not to much trouble i was wondering if anyone had the number so i could call the person and see what kind of machines they have.

Thank You Very Mucho

Chance, did you ever get my e-mail?

I sent you an e-mail a month or more ago about a couple wringers I have, did you get it?

Re: What the "junkyard" has. There are literally only a couple machines from the '50's, maybe a dozen or more from the 60's & 70's and more as they get newer.

The majority seems to be in the Kenmore / Whirlpool family, but there are also Maytag, Frigidaire 1-18's (maybe 6 - 8 of them, some with and W/O the window), GE / Hotpoint and probably a couple others I cannot think of.

They DO have front load machines BUT they are all the newer, Neptunes, Duets, Frigidaires, etc, nothing more then about 10 - 14 years old. They also have stoves, refrigerators and dishwashers.

As for calling them, honestly I doubt that they can tell you over the phone exactly how many of what model they have because there are so many.

A FRIENDLY WARNING: This is primarily an appliance repair business and that is their main focus. They just happen to have room to let these older machines sit and that's why they're there. When you go there you will need to talk to Lee and explain who you are and why you want to go out to look around before he will allow access to "the yard". If you talk to anyone else they will just tell you "No, we can't allow anyone to go out there without an escort because of our insurance and I don't have the time to do that."

There phone number is (623) 247-2031 and they are closed Sunday and Monday.

Also bear in mind these machines sit out in the blazing desert sun day after day and control panels, etc. become quite faded and plastic/rubber parts become cracked & melted. I've been there a few times and as RevvinKevin states, there isn't a lot of really old stuff there. The half dozen machines I picked up needed work, but were great for parts. Good luck!

sounds good. i get out of schol in about a week so i need a summer project.
