Hey friends, some of yall may know me on YT as damusician, vinylman86, ilistenanything78s and analogrules1986. Well, all my 4 channel are gone because of multiple copyright infringements. All 4 channels had the same email address so everyone got deleted, argh!!!!!!!! I didn't want it to end that way because I worked too hard to make vids and not only that, I enjoyed other vids too. Why me? Well, I hope to be back soon, but I have to create another email address because I may lose my new account if I use the same one. It happened before to user Spatsbear2. Also, I may open an account on Vimeo and if any members on there, see yall around.

Jasonl, If I were you, I'll remove the Black Sabbath record vid because of the WB label. They're the ones who got my kicked out.

I understand WB is causing trouble for folks who've posted episodes of The Golden Girls (starring Beatrice Arthur!). Why? The Golden Girls is not a WB property.

WB is the copyright holder for "Thank you for being a friend" used in the opening credits!!

All of that "deleted" content is popping back up, just under different titles....the Golden Girls intro theme is still there, just under a new title. Just have to re-post under a different account name and change the title so it's not so "obvious".

Youtube is really cracking down. I've never posted or uploaded a video, but I have several hundred videos stored in multiple playlists. In the last two weeks or so, many videos (including some that I've been playing for years) have suddenly become "unavailable". It's so annoying!

Straight off of the Youtube copyright section...

Commercial Content Is Copyrighted

The most common reason we take down videos for copyright infringement is that they are direct copies of copyrighted content and the owners of the copyrighted content have alerted us that their content is being used without their permission. Once we become aware of an unauthorized use, we will remove the video promptly. That is the law.

Some examples of copyrighted content are:

* TV shows
o Including sitcoms, sports broadcasts, news broadcasts, comedy shows, cartoons, dramas, etc.
o Includes network and cable TV, pay-per-view and on-demand TV
* Music videos, such as the ones you might find on music video channels
* Videos of live concerts, even if you captured the video yourself
o Even if you took the video yourself, the performer controls the right to use his/her image in a video, the songwriter owns the rights to the song being performed, and sometimes the venue prohibits filming without permission, so this video is likely to infringe somebody else's rights.
* Movies and movie trailers
* Commercials
* Slide shows that include photos or images owned by somebody else

I can understand directly copying content like music videos or posting a slideshow with an mp3 of a song playing.

But... what about a camera pointed at a record player, cassette player, jukebox, etc. playing a song OR at a vintage TV playing a classic show? First off, the sound quality is poor because of the camera's microphone, and second, you're demonstrating a piece of equipment, not copying someone's song. I wonder if that's something someone can ask Youtube. I could ask them this question but they might remove all my videos as well because of the records being played.

Hi Jason,

Some of my now deleted favorites were videos of records playing, so they probably enforce their policy if someone complains about a video of a record playing. (Sigh)

What I'd Like to Know...

Why doesn't Youtube eliminate all the people on there that are shown doing drugs, and their NASTY videos (smoking pot, snorting meth and coke, etc.)? There's an abundance of them on there.

As always, a double standard.

Videos of people taking drugs... OK

Videos of people listening to a record player... Not ok.

What's next, Whirlpool is going to sue us for making videos of our washing machines?

I just deleted another one of my favorites

The video was still there, but the audio had been disabled (see below). This is starting to get rediculous! By the time they're finished, I won't have many favorites left!
