Naco Model Nuber 5

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can help me!

We have a Naco home laundry model 5 washing machine circa 1955. It came hard wired into the mains on our house & bolted down into the concrete slab when we bought it. It hasn't been operated for a very very long time by the looks of things but the inner tub spins.
It is pretty dirty but most of the paint is intact - it's white with blue handle & chute cover trim.

What would any of your lovely selves pay for such a gem? Should I try and find a museum to take it?
I also have an old copper (without the copper drum) and a hydro powered spin dryer mounted to the old laundry tubs - which is far to awesome to part with. But I could post pictures if you are interested.

You need to post some pictures of the machines that you are talking about.

The pictures will give some insight on what those machines could possibly be worth.

I've got a couple of the Cream and Red Naco's, I've never seen one in White and Blue though.

I'd appreciate it if you could post some images as I may be interested.

PHOTOS PLEASE. Most people here in the U.S. do not know that we boiled our clothes in a copper in Australia, gas electric or woodfired let alone understand the spindrier in the concrete washtub that was powered by water. Washdays were truly a chore until wringer washers and then machines like the Naco (they also made another model, smaller with a spinner) and the Bendix.

Dan, that thread is the reason I found you guys in the first place. It was just about the only thing Unvle Google could find for me about Naco washing machines.

Ok, so I have an admission to make. The machine IS red. Not blue. What can I say? Um.. Female moment? I've only been walking right by it for about 4 years!

Anyway, ask & ye shall receive... Pictures!! Ta-Dah!!

So the first few are the washing machine. Then the copper upside down on top (it's pretty heavy & I didn't want to struggle to get it down on my own).
Then my hydro spinner. It still works & I have used it a few times - but the new fridges water line is on it's tap now so I couldn't turn it on for you. The middle picture is the drum spinning & the last picture is it's water inlet underneath.

Hi Caz,

That must be an early one with the metal lid.

At this stage I probably couldn't buy the entire machine, but I'd definitely be interested in the Lid to the tub.

The amazing part of what you've got, is that it shows the first generation of laundry in Australia, IE the Copper and the spinner and then the second generation in a semi automatic machine.
