Local radio station is counting down the all time 1443 rock songs/bands. It has been so great hearing songs from the best bands like Queen, Byrds, Heart, Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi and so on.

So tell me, what are everyone's favourite rock bands and or songs. If none one mentions the Ramones I'll die!

P.S.
No air guitar playing while doing laundry please.

Well, as a classic rock fan, I'd have to say Steppenwolf (Rock Me Baby, Born To Be Wild), Creedence Clearwater Revival (Fortunate Son, Proud Mary, namely ALL CCR hits!), The Doobie Brothers (Rockin' Down the Highway), Rolling Stones (Satisfaction, Jumping Jack Flash, House of the Rising Sun), Byrds (Turn Turn Turn, Eight Miles High), The Who (Magic Bus, My Generation), Eagles (Already Gone), The Beatles (ALL of them), Fleetwood Mac (Rhiannon, Gold Dust Woman), Neil Diamond (Cherry, Cherry; Solitary Man)...and I'll think and post more when I remember!!

Some Heart songs are too "feminine", but there's one exception: Crazy On You. That song is the absolute BEST one there is!!!!

Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Genesis, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Mavericks, The Roches, The Go-Go's, Jane Wiedlin, Kate Bush, Toby Keith, Nanci Griffith, Louis Prima and Keely Smith.

I like Louis Prima also, but I don't think he's in the "rock" catagory!
Any song from Bob Seegar's "Live Bullet",any song from Pink Floyd(especially the albums DSOTM,or Animals),or anything from Peter Frampton's "Frampton comes Alive!" Oh,yeah,Rock and Roll High School,by the Ramones!8~)

Launderess, you've zeroed in on my favorite area: MUSIC!

70's British Glam Rock: T. Rex, Slade, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Sparks
70's Hard Rock: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash
70's Prog Rock: King Crimson, Yes, Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream
70's Punk Rock: Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Damned, The Ramones, The Fall
Late 70's into the 80's: Wire, John Foxx, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, The Fall
90's: Pavement, Guided By Voices, Nirvana, The Fall, Pulp
00's: The White Stripes, The Libertines, The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, The Arcade Fire, Lambchop, The Mars Volta and of course THE FALL.

Whew! There it is, kids.

EVERYTHING!

If we're talking rock and roll, 1955-now but mostly classic between the 50s and the mid 80s.

If we're talking music, everything except rap. I can handle opera and polka.

Favorite bands:
The Beatles
The Monkees
Kiss
Led Zep
Queen
Aerosmith
Journey
Jimi Hendrix
The Byrds
Heart (Magic Man is my #1 song from them)
Pink Floyd
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Steely Dan
60s garage bands (from both the UK and US. The UK stuff is wild!)
The Weird Sisters (fictional band in the Harry Potter series but they ROCKED in the movie.)

but this list is just to name a few. I love it all.

My favorite Rock artist, piano player, fellow Idahoan, and probably one of the most prolific female songwriters in history: Carole King

Random picks in random order

T-Rex, the Moody Blues, Blue Oyster Cult, Blondie, Martha and the Vandellas, Lou Reed, Steely Dan, Cream, America, the Bee Gees, the Guess Who, Journey, Janis Joplin, Link Wray, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the Ramones, Todd Rundgren, Led Zep, the Doors, Van Morrison, Eric Burdon and the Animals, the Beatles, the Steve Miller Band, and LaVern Baker.

Spiral--- Big ups on your love of Lou, Todd and T. Rex! I haven't followed Runt a lot since the mid-80's, but those solo albums from the 70's still have regular rotation at my house. Lou is huge for me, both in the Velvet Underground and all solo material. I saw him on the Magic & Loss tour in the early 90's and it was an excellent show.

I was to have seen T. Rex back in '74, but I was in a high school play and couldn't make it. I figured I'd catch them next time, but as we all know there was no next time for Bolan & Co. in the US.

Good taste, man!

WOW! So many people like TREX! Thats great. I also love Sweet and Suzi Quatro.

Kate Bush is also a special favourite and I love her new song about washing machines too :)

However Im the biggest 80's fan around and I love 80's electronic music. LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! I love Ultravox, and Yazoo and most of all, I love the Human League!

The best new band around these days IMHO is the Killers.

Somebody mentioned the Moody Blues....

They're my favorite! I also like the Beatles up thru Sgt Pepper, not that much after. Then I actually like a lot of the 80's such as Heart's "Never" (We can't go on-- just a running away). Many of our favorites are still around, I went to a Boston concert last year. And Depeche Mode has a new song out, so I have been listening to their music because "I just can't get enough". One song of theirs, "But not tonite" kind of sounds like a Kenmore washer we used to have.

You only find a few songs that I like today. But there is a video by a band called Switchfoot, for their song "Stars" that takes place underwater. Yet, when you see the picture of them, they look like they need a bath! Nep

This is a huge category.-

No particular order, just as they come to mind:
I have time for this, because I cheerfully jettisoned tee vee for reading, internet, and music.

Kate Bush (I LIKE Aerial!-but "Hounds of Love" is my all time favourite.)

The Beatles

The Rolling Stones

Christine Lavin

Carly Simon and James Taylor

Sally Fingerett

Peter Gabriel

Barenaked Ladies

Nick Drake

The Cars

Wainwright's/McGarrigles

Phoebe Snow

Bruce Cockburn

Depeche Mode

David Sanborn

Blossom Dearie

Robbie Robertson

Pretenders

Beck

Eurythmics/Annie Lennox

Corey Hart

Moby (I do admit that I started at "Play.")

Deacon Blue

Don Dixon

I prefer Barbra to Madge, Judy to Liza, and Bette to Celine.

There's more, but that's all for now.

The Moodies Rock

Hey, Nep! Thanks for the recommendation & link to this board. I couldn't agree with you more. The Moody Blues are my all time favs. They do it all. And I was thrilled to see them at Moody Bluegrass in Nashville on 23rd October. It was a different kind of experience since their songs were done in traditional bluegrass style. But it shows just how versatile our guys are.

I love most music. I guess my favs are all "classic rockers." The Moody Blues, The Door, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Diamond, Genesis, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, of course. So many bands. So much wonderful music.

Aerosmith is my absolute favorite, but some honorable mentions are:

Lenny Kravitz

Jet

The Doors

Matchbox 20

Jimi Hendrix

The Eagles

Elvis

Huey Lewis and The News

Welcome To My Nightmare

Music has always been my great love ever since I was a kid. I don't think I could put a list of favorites together. My tastes tend to lean toward alternative music. Of the CDs that I own, most people are hard pressed to find one CD by an artist that they recognize. I was surprised to see that so many people dig T.Rex. I love T.Rex and have a big collection of T.Rex CDs. I love all the glam stuff, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Slade, and on and on.

I guess I'll just say that my all-time favorite band is a band named Dramarama. They are America's best unknown band unless you're from Jersey or California.

My favorite album right now is the latest by The Ravenettes. I can't get enough of this fantastic CD.

This place that I bought had a big walk-in cedar closet in the hallway and I didn't need the space for clothes, so I turned it into my CD library. Here's a pic.
